George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. Before them, it was Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Sandra Bland – and countless others.

The world witnessed these tragic deaths caused by deep-rooted racism in our communities, and now people around the globe, from all backgrounds, races, and nationalities, are marching against racial intolerance. Elected officials are being held accountable to pass significant legislative changes. Consumers expect and want businesses to do more. Companies, like ours, must hold up the mirror and ask: Are we doing enough?

Our Americas headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia - the birthplace of Dr. King and a city with a profound legacy of civil rights. Our values and culture must reflect that legacy. We stand with our Black colleagues, guests and communities in challenging injustice and intolerance wherever we see it, and we are committed to nurturing a culture of inclusion and diversity.

It’s why we formed our Diversity & Inclusion Boards in 2018, with the goal of fostering a company that truly represents the world we live and travel in. It’s why our purpose at IHG Hotels & Resorts is to provide True Hospitality for everyone. Everyone should feel safe, respected, and valued within our business and the communities we operate in.
