Sumiyoshi shrine

3-1-51 Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka, Fukuoka

Just 5mins walking distance from our hotel. This shrine is dedicated to the gods of Sokotsutsuo-no-kami, Nakatsutsuo-no-kami and Uwatsutsuo-no-kami and it was officially designated in ancient time as one of the high ranked shrines. It was once admired as the greatest shrine of Chikuzen area (northern part of the present Fukuoka prefecture).

Kushida Shrine

This grand tutelary shrine of Hakata is widely known and people warmly refer to it as “Okushida-san.” It is dedicated to the gods of Ohatanushi-no-mikoto, Amaterasu-omikami and Susanowo-no-mikoto. According to tradition, in 757, when Emperor Koken was in the reign and Tairano Kiyomori designated Hakata port as a base of Japan-China trade, the shrine was built on the emperor’s order to share a god with Kushida shrine of Ise province (the present Mie prefecture).

Chatch a bus from Hakata to Marinoa City Outlet mall ! Marinoa City Fukuoka is the largest outlet mall in Kyushu. It has a massive ferris wheel and mega stores, and also houses 169 attractive stores which are opened in Japan or Kyushu for the first time. A nice view from the Ferris wheel named "Sky Wheel" is just splendid. It is also filled with a casual waterfront atmosphere.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is sacred to the memory of Michizane Sugawara, also known as "the god of learning". Tenmangu's history is recalled by events such as the New Year's Exorsism Fire Festival, the Spring Water Poetry Festival, and the Annual God-Procession Festival which takes place in the Fall.

Fukuoka Tower

The 234m high tower is covered with 8000 half mirrors and is the tallest seaside tower in Japan. You will be able to see the urban functions, nature and culture of Fukuoka city at once from the observation room at 123m.It takes approximately 70 seconds by elevator to the observation room.On top of being able to view sites of Fukuoka city, such as Hakata wharf and Sefuri Mountain, you can enjoy the gradually changing colours of the blue sky as night falls.
