Xie Mountain, around 100km from Crowne Plaza Xiangyang, is a beautiful national park and tourist destination studded with ancient temples. Trek past them to the summit and you'll be rewarded with views over endless rugged emerald mountains.
The Wanda Cinema, moments from Crowne Plaza Xiangyang, is also part of the Wanda Plaza complex and regularly screens new films. There are always plenty of Chinese films, but keep your eyes peeled for the latest Hollywood blockbusters, too.
Take a raincoat with you. Xiangyang enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, which means there can sometimes be heavy downpours, especially in summer.
Crowne Plaza Xiangyang is part of Xiangyang Wanda Plaza, one of the city's biggest commercial centres. Spend an afternoon shopping for the latest designer clothes, or kick back with a coffee in one of the nearby cafés.
Climbing onto Xiangyang's ancient city wall, which was built in the Han Dynasty to protect the city from invaders. The 10-metre-high wall is still in relatively good condition, and from its northern end you can soak up incredible views of the Han River.
