STOLEN SHOPPING FROM ROOM

Me and my partner just recently stayed at this hotel for a long weekend so that we could do Christmas shopping. We came to this hotel in 2018 and thought it was absolutely amazing however coming back this time was the biggest mistake ever.
Our shopping from the whole weekend had been stolen on the Sunday whilst we were out!
Our room needed cleaning so I asked a maid to clean it whilst we was out and when we came back on the night time we found our room cleaned but our shopping stolen.
The management have been absolutely disgusting and not helped us at all, they reassured us whilst we was there that we would get our money back for the room and that they would find out who had taken it as well as money back for our stolen goods but now we are back home they are not taking any responsibility so we have had to take it to the police.
In front of other guests at the hotel they told us that they would be helping us but obviously they just said this so we wouldn’t kick up a fuss.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL

We are absolutely disgusted and recommended everyone to stay away at all costs and find another hotel, do not come here.
For £650 you would expect something like this not to happen but this is not the case, I was told that I would receive a full refund but then it went down to 50% and now it looks like I’m not going to get anything back.

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR POSSESSIONS BEING STOLEN

A true gem

Wonderful hotel, where the staff make the experience feel like home, a very unique and personal touch. An amazing stay after being thoroughly welcomed at check in by Lisa, we used the gorgeous spa facilities. At dinner we were greeted by John, who tended to our every need allowing us a choice of table and his team of serving staff were also outstanding. We ate three times at this facility and all were outstanding, breakfast is very well organised and beautiful food on offer, dinner was amazing, so good we returned after check out later in the day for an outstanding afternoon tea. At check out Fiona was wonderful, we left our bags to return for our tea, and she gave is tremendous advice on visits in our few short hours. All advice was taken and time was thoroughly enjoyed. I do not usually take the time to complete reviews of my vast experience of travel, but this one was certainly to benefit future visitors to this wonderful city, about a little gem.

Great nights sleep but a lot of issues

Me and my partner have stayed here a few times always been great however this time not so much. Due to corona pandemic the pool and gym wasn’t open, I had rang to confirm this on Friday 24th to be told the pool was open so packed swim wear and turned up to be told it wasn’t in person. Also rang separate time on day of stay to see if could pay cash as well as card to be told yes again we can pay with cash, turn up to hotel to be told no so had to go to local bank and put money into account so could check in! Restaurant not open only bar at 5pm. The bill was £120 which we thought was too much since facilities weren’t open so was literally just a bed for the night. The room was great we got ‘upgraded’ to the club floor but club bar shut so wasn’t really an upgrade what so ever. Room was clean as always and lovely nights sleep no robes as we have had before here tho and also toilet flush would keep going had to keep getting up to press button again (annoyingly) I can say our host Gillian was so friendly and nice tho can’t fault her just disappointed this time with whole stay

A disappointing stay

After booking this for a post Xmas treat, we took an executive suite package with three course meal. When we sat at the restaurant we were told the three corse meal wasn’t available and we’d get 25 per head off the bill, only to find you can’t even order three courses off the regular menu for anywhere near £25. When we tried to order both our starter choices were also not available, we tried to even order tap water and that took 25mins and three times of asking! Our mains arrived minus the side order which they had forgotten, so we’re near finished by the time that turned up, under cooked chips and over salty food was a huge disappointment plus an extra £10 to pay.

Our ‘executive suite’ was directly over the police station and the train station so was extremely noisy all night so virtually no sleep !

We mentioned the issues on check our only to be told we should have told night staff!

Expected much better having stayed at Crowne plazas before and the one on our own doorstep is the worst , Really poor!

Worst service ever

Checked in around 9pm on a Sunday night after a 360 mile journey to find that room (booked and paid for ten days in advance) was sold on, and we were given a room with a disabled bathroom. This looked exactly like a hospital room, not a four star hotel, one couldn't even stand under the shower due to the disabled seat.

After complaining three times, not one member of staff had one iota of interest, repeating that the room we booked had a queen bed so they could give us anything with a queen bed. The worst hotel rooms in the worst hotels in the world generally come with a queen bed, so the bar is not too high.

The booking process advising you about securing your preferred room type is obviously nonsense.

We travelled for a funeral and didn't want to look at a hospital suite, nor is a bath too much to expect from a supposedly four star hotel. Nor a shower one can stand under. We paid for a room for two nights and did not expect it to be sold on at 9pm at night.

The manager also tried to claim that the stream of people checking in after us had already checked in. How does that work?!

Seemed to be plenty of rooms for people checking in after us (by definition not already checked in).

Clearly they sold our room in to conference guests and we were non-persons, despite already taking our money.

Staff did not offer a phone or any assistance at all to book in to the Holiday Inn, which is part of the same group, absolutely could not care less about us as guests (who had travelled 360 miles and at 9.30 at night).

Now awaiting a refund that was grudgingly agreed - yet more time wasted chasing this - hotel obviously thinks it's entitled to help itself to cash for nothing.

Rewards club member - yes, well rewarded.

Worst hotel experience in decades of hotel stays around the world, unbelievable. Avoid!
