Nairobi Destination Guide

Whether you are planning a holiday or stopping over for business, you won't be disappointed when you choose to stay in either of IHG's Nairobi hotels. A key financial hub and the biggest and boldest city in Kenya, there's plenty to explore and enjoy with just a little planning and consideration. Start with the Kenyetta Conference Centre and you'll get a feel for both modern and traditional Africa. The building towers over the City Square and offers access to a viewing platform where you can soak up the sun drenched city vista. Just outside the city centre, the National Museum offers a good range of cultural, geological and natural-history exhibits as well as contemporary East African art.

Getting around Nairobi can be as entertaining as it is practical, with a choice of regular public bus services, private taxis and the privately owned Matatu with their neon lights, blaring music and flat screen televisions. Shoppers will be attracted to the daily City Market or the weekly Maasai Market where you can barter for souvenirs and clothes.

Local food features camel, ostrich and even crocodile meat, but don't fret if that doesn't whet your appetite. Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Italian, French and African cuisines are just some of the world flavours to be found in Nairobi. The Bomas of Kenya offers traditional entertainment in the form of dances, songs and beats such as Swahili taarab music, Kalenjin warrior dances and Embu drumming. In the evening, head to the suburbs for the best of Nairobi's nightlife and live music events.

Nature should be at the heart of any visit to Nairobi, with a multitude of natural attractions to be enjoyed. Start with a picnic at the Nairobi National Park before moving on to see rhino, lions, buffalo and more in their natural habitat. Or, if watching wildlife isn't enough for you, get up close and personal with the cheetahs at the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, situated at the entrance to the park. Rise up on a platform at the Langata Giraffe Center to touch, feed and photograph a giraffe or see the selection of slithering and sliding creatures at the city's Snake Park.

Explore this diverse destination from one of IHG's hotels in Nairobi and you'll be sure to enjoy an action packed Kenyan adventure. For quality accommodation at a great price, simply book your stay with IHG today.

Warm and friendly staff, and great food

If you are looking for place to getaway, this is a good place as it is less noisy. [Less]
Great food and friendly staff
By Denzil1
I had an enjoyable stay made better by the extremely friendly staff. I ate in the hotel each night and there was plenty of choice to have a different meal each night. [Less]
No Regret
The service quality have continued where it left off since my return in July after an absence of 2 years. Have now been back in August and September/October and will be back in November and [More] December. Though thru no fault of the hotel a Friday night party somewhere in the vicinity really spoiled my sleep with the load music. hopefully it can be prevented next time with a room facing the courtyard and pool. To management: keep your eyes peeled on the maintenance folks Do not let up. You have a great opportunity to retain your loyal clients but could just as easy loose them if the appearance goes down. An excellent experience
By Uldonspy
Initially I should spend 4 nights, but I had to extend my stay for 5 days - I can tell you that I did not regret it! All the staff are so professional and gave me a very warm welcome. The setting [More] is very welcoming, the rooms very luxurious and clean. The food is excellent and the restaurant staff very nice. I had the pleasure of meeting lovely people, such as Miss Grace, Sir Roy, Miss Leah and many more. A terrace area with swimming pool and bar, where you can enjoy the fresh air. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great stay in Nairobi. Thank you. Prince Gueloyi. [Less]
