Brussels began as a sleepy village in the 10th century and flourished over
time, building an impressive La Grand-Place that served as a hub of commerce and government for Belgium. It has
retained its charming 19th century allure even while becoming one of the
busiest metropolitan hubs in Europe. When it was chosen in the 1990s as the center of government for the
European Union, the city underwent a transformation, as hundreds of new
buildings grew up to accommodate the new bureaucracy. International
corporations moved in, building modern skyscrapers and updating the city's
previous, somewhat provincial feel. Today, Brussels is an international seat of politics and business, and is
home to 1.8 million residents. Since gaining independence in 1830, Belgium
has shifted from its traditional Dutch roots, and now French is the primary
language. As a modern European capital, there are hotels in Brussels for
every budget and comfort level. beautiful tribute to the genre, with thousands of original cartoon works, a
library, and an Art Nouveau brasserie for a leisurely afternoon snack. Mannekin-Pis, the city's iconic statue of a tinkling boy, is a favorite
with tourists and residents alike. The statue and fountain was originally a
functional element in the city's water distribution system, but is now a
symbol of the city's rebellious spirit. The city owns about 900 different
outfits for the statue; during festivals and other special events, it is
decked out in clever clothes to suit the occasion. Hike through the deep green forest at the Foret de Soignes and visit the
site of the Battle of Waterloo. The city re-enacts this historic 1815
battle on its June anniversary every five years. Climb the Lion Mound for a
spectacular panorama of the battleground.

Easy access to city center

We had a pleasant check in and a room with a lovely view. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The internet worked great. The front desk staff was either great or just ok. It is a[More] nice to have a selection of snacks and food if you find you need a little something...We found the cafes around the area ok but wouldn't really recommend any. The day bus pass is only good for the day you buy it not for 24 hours.[Less]

A comfortable room with good facilities. The hotel was quiet despite being fairly crowded and close to airport. Only difficulty was that shuttle service does not run all day.[Less]
Brussels Airport Hotel, more yhen you expect.
By Lars62
The Holiday Inn hotel in Brussels airport is close to the airport, but not so close that you suffer from disturbing traffic.
You can hear the take off of the airplanes sometimes, but not really[More] disturbing. I use the hotel because it is also close to the office area of Diegem where most Global companies have their HQ for Belgium or Europe.
In the evening after rush hour you are in the city center within 10-12 minutes drive.
The rooms are rather big, flat screen TV with an enormous number of channels, simple bathroom good desk to do some work, or write reviews for hotels.
The Gym and Swimming pool (indoor) are good and as far as I know included in the price
Staff is very friendly and multilingual.
Restaurant has a good chose in fish, meat and pasta's. One drawback and that is that it is situated in a non Window area, so better not have a romantic dinner with your partner....[Less]
