Disappointing stay

We stayed here for my sons 18th birthday. Went to shower at 11:30pm and the shower drain wouldn't work. Called the front desk to ask if there was a trick to it and was told "if it isn't draining it's clogged and our maintenance people are gone for the night" I said so we just can't shower and was told "not unless you want a flooded room". (This was only a shower not a tub/shower combo) I then asked if we could move to a new room and she said they were booked. They called at 10am and asked if they could send a maintenance man up to look at it. He fixed it in less than 5 minutes. We checked out a little late, around 11:30 due to us having to all shower quick.

My son noticed after we left he didn't have his Airpods. In the rush to leave he forgot them on the bed. I called immediately and was told the room hadn't been cleaned and they would go get them and call us back. We drove back to the hotel after not getting a call back and went in to get the airpods. The front desk clerk called the head of housekeeping on her hand help radio and she said "we still haven't gotten to that room I will go look now" 15 minutes later she comes down and tells us the room has been cleaned and they didn't find anything. I asked during that time if I could just run up to the room myself and the clerk said they couldn't allow me to do that. I told them we knew the airpods were in the building because we can track them and then the housekeeper gets in my face and says "I understand what you are saying! But if they got thrown in the laundry it's going to take a while to go through it. Give me your name and number and I will call you if we find them"

We live 3 hours away and were leaving town. I called back each day for the next 2 days and finally talked to Alexis, the guest services manager. That is when I informed her the airpods had moved to a new location and were no longer in the hotel and gave her the address. She said she would be in touch with the general manager and call back.

I did get a call back that afternoon. Was told that the airpods had been located and she knew exactly who it was that took them as soon as Alexis told her the address. She informed me the employee had been terminated but he brought the airpods back. Perfect. That's all we wanted. She offered to mail them to us. And asked if we wanted to press charges. We did not.

It has now been a week and 2 days. Still no airpods. I called and left a message to try and get a tracking number and still have not been contacted again.

Very unfortunate as we really liked staying at this location before this disaster of a stay.

Unexpected charge with non-existent customer service

My husband and our 4 children stayed in the 2 bedroom suite for a 2 night stay. We have stayed at this property, in this particular room, in the past. The first night of our stay, my son became ill and vomited. He was unable to make it to the bathroom, and ended up throwing up on the tile floor outside of the bathroom. I used the dirty towels, along with my infant son's baby wipes, to clean up the mess as much as possible. Options are limited at 1am in a hotel room.

The following morning, I called the front desk to alert them of the situation, apologize, and ask for assistance from housekeeping to clean/sanitize. The front desk staff was very understanding and pleasant. She informed me that housekeeping would be in at 9am and they would clean our room.

We left the hotel at 7am and returned after 3pm to find the room had not been cleaned. I again called the front desk. I was told that housekeeping staff was limited and was busy turning rooms for incoming guests, so would not be able to get to my room until the following day. She further instructed me to put the soiled towels (knowing what I had used them for) into the hall for housekeeping to pick up and to come to the front desk to pick up new towels. I asked twice to clarify before putting the soiled towels into the hallway.

My children and I were getting ready to go to the pool when housekeeping knocked on our door. I told the gentleman what had happened and showed him where it had occurred. He said he would wait until we left for the pool and would clean, so my children and I went to the pool area. My husband arrived to the hotel around 20 minutes later and went to our room. Housekeeping had left and some of the soiled areas were wiped down. No biggie, the majority of the tile had been wiped down, and something is better than nothing.

The following morning, an itemized copy of our bill was slipped under the door. Upon review, I had been charged $50 for "Extra Cleaning Fee - Throw up in hall and in room." I called the front desk to inquire and was told that housekeeping had to sanitize the hall since the towels were put in the hallway as instructed by the front desk staff the previous day. I was also told I would need to speak to the General Manager, which is who put the charge on my account. The GM was not in, so I would have to call back. I called the front desk again asking to speak to the GM and was told she was busy but they would text her to call or stop by to talk to me. I then got a phone call from the front desk saying the GM was busy and would not be able to talk to me regarding the $50 charge, but I could call Monday to speak with someone regarding the charge. I checked out of the hotel and got the General Manager's information. I called Monday and was told the GM was not able to take my call but I could leave a voicemail, which I did. I am still waiting for a return call from the GM or to talk to anyone regarding the charge.

I received an email asking to take a survey regarding my stay. I filled it out honestly and explained the situation. I received an email back explaining the $50.00 charge was not intended for the cleaning, but for the towels they had to throw out as a result of bodily fluids. Due to the pandemic, it was best served for everyone that the towels be tossed.

I understand this was a huge inconvenience and I used property of the hotel to clean up a mess in the middle of the night. My child became ill and my options were limited. Housekeeping was not available to assist in the middle of the night, nor were they able to assist until I pressed the matter the following day. I would be more than willing to pay a fee. The part that is most upsetting is the lack of customer service. I was a hotel guest, renting an expensive room, only to be told the people running the facility were too busy to discuss a surprise charge. I am still waiting for a return phone call 4 days later.

A $50 charge for used hotel towels seems a bit steep, but management is not willing to negotiate. The other part that I noticed on my itemized bill was "Farm Show" written at the top. I never told anyone why we were staying at the hotel when I booked the room or when we were on site. My family and I must resemble "Farm Show" type people to the management of this establishment.

Hotel shuttle

Overall we were pleased with this hotel. However, we had a poor experience with the shuttle. We booked the hotel because it advertised a 24 hr shuttle to the airport. We had a very early flight and informed the desk of the time we needed the shuttle. However, when we arrived at the desk for the shuttle we were informed they were calling Uber and it would be 15 min late. We made our flight but this added a lot of stress to our morning. This is not a 24 hr shuttle service.

Friendliest & Most Helpful Staff

Kayla and the other morning/day time staff were SO amazing!! Kayla went out of her way to help and answered all my questions and there were plenty.

I had a purpose for my visit in South Dakota and because of Kayla's help; I was able to complete the task. She always smiled and was super friendly.

I was able to get a ride from the airport easily and also my trip back in the morning was handled by the desk staff. Everything went smoothly. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

The hotel and room were so clean. I had a king sized bed room and appreciated the work desk and also chair to lounge in during the evening. It was very roomy. The hotel itself had a home-like feel.

When I come back to South Dakota, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you Kayla and the desk staff!

Mean staff, intolerant of dogs

1)These people are intolerant of dogs. They really shouldn’t accept them. My highly trained border collie let out three barks when the maid came by making a lot of noise. The front desk called and complained. I had already stayed there for three nights without any problems as my dog doesn’t bark except to alert me of a problem.
There were no residents staying around me so this complaint came from their staff.

2)After staying for three days, The front desk called to tell me that my card was declined for stay on the fourth day. Weird, that’s never happened. The instant I walked out of the room to go talk to the staff-They locked me out of my room which contained ALL of my personal belongings(my keys, my cards, my dog, my clothes). I felt completely helpless.It turns out that they were wrong! My card was charged twice. They offered NO apologies. The manger was nice but two staff members continues to shout at me until the manager arrived. These two have no ability to diffuse an upset customer or offer any apologies-Kenneth and kaliah(sp?).

Never had to wait this long. Worst experience Ever!! Received no compensation for this, only apologies once we finally got a key to a different room that WE decided to ask for. Had very little time to rest between getting to the room and leaving for the concert we were in town for. The room itself seemed fine, except it had no cups and the tv kept shutting off. All in all, it was a terrible experience for 250 a night.
