DO NOT STAY HERE!!

By

July 26, 2021

Everything about my stay was unbearable!! I would give zero stars if there was an option to do so!! I booked my room through Booking.com, which was another disaster...but that's a review for their site. I arrived on Friday evening with my 15 and 13 year old boys to stay in a room overnight with 2 beds. The front desk said they have no record of my reservation. After I showed them my confirmation email from Booking.com, they were finally able to find us a room after about 30 minutes of waiting. However, the room only had one bed which meant one of my kids would sleep on the floor. They were unable to accommodate me on price for the room, so they offered a free breakfast in the restaurant the next morning...told me "just give them your room number and it'll be taken care of".
We then went up to our room after waiting about an hour at check in to find that the key they gave me didn't work. I go back downstairs to the front desk and they give me a new key. I go back up to the room, open the door and the room was still being occupied by other people...that was fun!! I go back downstairs to tell the front desk and now wait another 15 - 20 minutes for them to find a new room. I asked them to please send up extra towels and blankets for my son who now has to sleep on the floor.
I get a key and go back upstairs to go into the room. I wait, wait, wait, wait and no extra blankets or towels come. I call the front desk to request them....wait, wait, wait...nothing. I call again and finally someone comes to the door with only on blanket. I said I need 2 because my son isn't going to sleep on the disgusting carpet. I wait, wait, wait.....nothing. I call again and someone finally comes to my door with a plunger. I said I called for blanket and towels, he says oh, thought you had a clogged toilet...I'll be back. He comes back with just a towel and says we should have a blanket in the drawer or closet. I told him I looked already and there were none. He finally comes back and we are able to go to sleep well after midnight (we got there around 7 PM).
Wake up the next morning for breakfast at 7 AM before we ran a 5K in Prospect Park. Had breakfast and charged it to the room as we were told. We come back after our run and checkout at the desk. I ask for a printed receipt (I wasn't taking any chances) and I see that not only did they charge me for our breakfast, we were also charged for someone else's!! I told them I was promised a free breakfast, the woman looks and tells me that I didn't book the package with breakfast included. She says there is no notation on my booking for a complimentary breakfast. After about 10 minutes of refusing to pay for my breakfast and someone else's, the woman at the other counter remembered me from the night before and said it should be on my booking. FINALLY they find it and credit my card. You would think it ends there......the next day, I get an email from the Hotel that my booking is cancelled because the credit card I gave to hold the room the week before didn't work. Meanwhile, they not only charged that card AFTER I gave them another card when I checked in so obviously it works, they cancel the room AFTER I stayed there and was charged???? Is that even possible??? THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE IN A HOTEL EVER FOR ME FROM BEGINNING TO END.....AND BOOKING.COM WAS NO HELP AT ALL!!

Not a Good Experience During Covid

By

March 28, 2021

We had to stay in Brooklyn for some wedding planning business, and did not feel very safe staying here during the pandemic. It did not appear that strict Covid guidelines were being followed. Many, many guests were not wearing masks and no staff were making any effort to enforce the hotels supposed mask policy. I also noticed several staff members not wearing masks at times. While we were staying there, only one of their two tiny elevators were working, and if you chose to ride in an elevator, you would be jammed in with many people, no social distancing. I instead had to choose to walk 11 flights of stairs to avoid be trapped in box with people not wearing masks. The room itself was fairly clean, a little dusty, but it did seem sanitized. The staff seemed overwhelmed and overworked (I don't blame them), but it did at times affect their attitude when interacting with guests.

Don't go for the pool, sauna, jacuzzi or steam room

By

August 12, 2019

The restrictive advertised hours for the pool, sauna, etc. are not the same as the even more restrictive hours posted in the room brochures which are also not the same as the actual restrictive hours that they will let you use these facilities. We went during the room brochure listed hours and were turned away because the entire area was closed to give private swim lessons. We were not allowed to use the empty sauna. When I called the desk, they simply said that they need to change the room brochures. Don't advertise these amenities if the guests can't use them!! I was also given key cards in a folder referencing IHG Members, but my stay was never entered into the rewards system. VERY disappointed in the staff and so-called amenities. After parking, we paid enough for the night, would expect a little more for the price. We stopped at the H down the street by accident when we first arrived. The staff bent over backwards for us even AFTER they found out that we would not be staying there. Maybe we will next time! I submitted complaints to the hotel to let them know about the pool and membership issues - NO response.
