Bed Bugs

By

July 19, 2021

I booked a trip to Chicago area a month and a half before traveling from Denver and I unfortunately chose the Holiday Inn Evanston for my accommodations. My first night, at 1:30am, I woke up with bites and itching terribly. My daughter was sleeping in the other bed next to me so I was uncertain what to do since I didn't know the source of the bites but suspected bed bugs. I couldn't sleep the rest of the night and was afraid that my five year old might be getting bites as well but she continued to sleep and I didn't have many options at that time of night so I decided to suffer. In the morning my daughter did complain of bites. On my way out the door I told the front desk person that I believe they have bed bugs and she said they would investigate and let me know. They never called me and I had to call them to follow up and they informed me that indeed there was a bed bug infestation in the room I had rented. I was told on the phone that they would comp me my one night and then give me 20,000 points towards a future stay at a Holiday Inn. The manager, Gerard, called me back later to correct the offer and tell me they would only comp me my nights stay and couldn't give me the 20,000 points as promised. He also asked me to sign a release of liability form and I thought that was strange. I fervently complained and the manager Gerard said he would see if he could do better for me. He followed up and told me they would comp me the night stay and 10,000 points as long as I signed there release form and I responded to forget it and I would just remain a very unhappy customer who would never stay at a Holiday Inn again in this lifetime. I'll assume nobody cares about my situation at Holiday Inn and only care about getting some "release" form signed. I had to find a new hotel in Chicago and unfortunately I paid a higher rate in a less convenient location for my visit.

Very disappointed

By

I was very disappointed in my recent stay at Holiday Inn in Evanston IL. We checked into our “non-smoking” room (#811), but it smelled like smoke. We asked to switch rooms but were told “no” due to the hotel being full. There was a plastic bag wrapped around the smoke detector! It was obvious someone had been smoking in that room.

My wife shared the elevator with someone clearly on meth and was scared to stay. At 3am, I could hear people yelling while running up and down the hallway.

A Great Experience

We stayed at this hotel before and made a few suggestions. The management listened.

The staff here is excellent in what they do. The housekeepers, the front desk and food service was top shelf. I would like to call out Mary at the front desk and Kevin, in the restaurant, for excellent service.

The restaurant food was high quality, reasonably priced and well prepared. Our stay included breakfast, and our server, Kevin, paid attention to every detail. He made sure our food orders arrived timely and always made sure we had enough coffee and tea.

On one evening we had guests for dinner. Once again the food was high quality, well prepared and served by an excellent wait staff. Although we got there a little late, the restaurant staff accommodated our party.

The room was clean, fresh, comfortable and quiet. This time we stayed on the south side and the room was a little quieter.

The building is close to the CTA purple line, making getting into and out of Chicago easy and convenient.

I can pay this establishment the highest compliment by telling you, my reader, that we will be staying here in the future. This was a very pleasant experience.

Staff and Services

I stayed 2 nights at Holiday Inn North Evanston (Evanston IL) for a college tour for my daughter (July 24-26, 2019). As I needed to check out very early around 6:30am, I was in a rush when I checked out and happened to leave my linen shirt I love in the closet of the room. When I came back home, I realized I left my shirt in the closet and since it was something I had some deep emotional attachment, I called the hotel the next morning and asked them to check the closet of the room. They said there were no guests who stayed in the room after my family left, and that they could not find it. Where would my shirt have gone??? The answer was just so blunt. They didn’t seem to have put much effort to find it for me despite my desperate request. It was a very disappointing customer service that I have ever had with Holiday Inn.

not again

Upon entering the room late I found no soaps, shampoos, etc or enough towels. I had to hunt down someone who brought up to the room two bottles of shampoo. I waited til morning to get the supplies from the maid. The hotel is a little run down and the parking was horrible not to mention that it was $18.00 a night and with only one way up the ramp for entering and exiting. We almost got into a head on collision with a driver speeding out. No complimentary coffee, tea, or anything, just a major ripoff. Will never go there again and will tell everyone I know to avoid this hotel....
