From the comfort of our Swindon hotels, you can check out the immaculately preserved steam trains on display at STEAM: Museum of the Great Western Railway. Our Swindon hotels make it easy to explore Swindon's Old Town, built before the trains came to town. Filled with shops and cafes, Swindon's Old Town has a charming village feel. Stroll the leafy pathways of the Lawn, a 50-acre park in Old Town.

In minutes you can be admiring the rolling terrain or exploring the Iron Age hill fort at Barbury Castle. With views extending well into the Cotswolds, Barbury lies on the edge of the rolling green hills of the Marlborough Downs.
A number of recent reviews have commented about the room being too hot. I'd forgotten this when I wrote my recent review (our room was initially too hot also). However I quickly realised that the[More] wall thermostat in our room was not connected to the wall heater whose own thermostat control worked perfectly and quckly allowed the room temparature to be set to a more comfortable level although if I remember correctly the wall heater's control was not clearly visible unless you were standing right next to it. Assuming other rooms are the same as ours, the no longer functioning wall thermostats should be removed and the room information printouts should mention the wall heater's own adjustment control so as not to confuse future guests.[Less]

Stay at Gloucester
Excellent stay. Very clean and all staff very friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable but a bit noisy with road noise at night.
Could do with some bacom and tomatoes at breakfast.
Will[More] certainly use again.[Less]
Amazing Hotel and Staff
Second visit to this marvellous hotel. Check in very straight forward and felt so safe with Covid situation, spotlessly clean.Room was beautiful with a lovely view. Honestly the most comfortable bed[More] have ever slept in, pillows like giant marshmallows! Had an evening meal at the hotel which was superb! Excellent location 15min walk into oxford town along the Thames..cannot recommend highly enough. Staff should be extremely proud of themselves, simply cannot do enough for you..Can’t wait for our next visit!![Less]
We had a 6 night “staycation” at this hotel last week. The hotel is excellent as we knew having been twice before. The staff are outstanding. We would like to say a special thank you to the duty[More] manager Claire and Casandra and Jamie in the restaurant as nothing was ever too much trouble. They were always smiling and welcoming. There was one small hiccup which was dealt with instantly with extreme curtesy and professionalism. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
This hotel is highly recommended by myself and my husband.
Very Enjoyable stay

Nice hotel in lovely location. Good room, although i did not have a terrace as I had opted for aircon instead. Had both breakfast and dinner a few times during my stay, and food was good although my[More] choice was limited as I'm vegetarian and celiac. Restaurant staff were very good and both floor manager Vladamir and wait staff Cassandra were excellent. Also Daniela on reception, who was very friendly and helped us with our luggage. I didn't experience the leisure centre so cannot comment. I had booked a 'deal' via Secret Escapes so, although an Ambassador member, didn't benefit from IgH recognition. All in all, a very pleasant stay.[Less]
Lovely Relaxing Weekend
By Joe Stone
I booked 3 rooms for our family to celebrate my wife and my 40th wedding anniversary. I made the booking back in February so was a bit concerned when the hotel changed hands to IHG. I needn't have[More] worried as our rooms were perfect...delux with a view, and 2 superior with balcony/terrace. The setting was lovely and even though there was a wedding there every day we were not disturbed by any noise. The staff could not have been more helpful with arranging many taxis for us into Oxford and different restaurants in the evenings. My wife used the pool but could not have a treatment as these are very popular and need to be booked well in advance of your stay. We did not eat evening meals here but we did have lunches sitting in the lovely courtyard, and breakfasts were taken in the river room with a view of the grounds and river. Thank you[Less]
