Our experience was just ok. The hotel was nice and the staff was great. We were told in advance that the pool and jacuzzi were open and functional and turned out not to be open. The breakfast food was mostly gone and not really being refilled at 7 AM. When they did refill the eggs were reheated omelets and not the best quality
The neighborhood was less than desirable lots of homeless and vagrants lingering all over.

Sound Proof the Rooms Facing Street!

Decent hotel, decent breakfast - - located in a noisy neighborhood - -too noisy for my sleeping comfort - -if you are a light sleeper you may want to reconsider. Lots of sirens, fire engine noises up and down street, even gun shots at one point from a complex across street. I am from a large city so the noises aside, I just should have done my homework better as to the type of sleep quality one could expect at this location - - so that is my fault. .

Never again.

My family & I booked at this hotel location thinking that it would be perfect to relax at after catching the comedy show at the Microsoft Theater that night. When we arrived to the hotel, we immediately noticed the location and started getting scared of safety concerns. The location of this hotel is literally in the heart of the "tent city" LA. The number of homeless/ druggies (people) in the area is astounding. After unloading our vehicle of our luggage, walking up to the elevator was quite irrie because it felt like we were going into an asylum. Once we go to the lobby is when we noticed that the hotel was being renovated. The hotel looked very dismal. Joshua at the front desk checked us in. He was very nice, welcoming & professional. Once we got to our room, we noticed the room was very humid & hot. My Husband cranked up the AC to help circulate the air for our teenaged kids before my Husband and I left to catch the comedy show and for a couple of minutes it was working but then completely gave out. When we came back from the show and opened the door is when we noticed the AC completely failed because the room was still so humid & hot. I then called the front desk to request for the maintenance guy to come and assess the situation. As he was tending to the AC unit, I noticed the beds and how old they actually were. I became grossed out because the mattresses were placed ontop of some very old, dirty, thin warped bunkie boards. I then asked him was this an old hotel and was it being renovated because these beds were very old looking and he said YES and then he confirmed the AC was broken and suggested we needed to switch rooms and if course we agreed. We packed up all of our stuff and headed to the lobby/front desk to let Joshua know of the situation and that we needed to be switched to another room. Joshua sincerely apologized for the inconvenience and tried his best to accommodate us but unfortunately it was just taking way too long. People kept staring at us because we have all of our stuff with us, my kids were in their pj's and we were all just so tired of waiting that we agreed to just drive back home instead of staying the night there. So I told Joshua to nevermind about trying to accommodate us, that we were just going to go home and I then requested to be refunded my reservation charge. Thankfully, he understood and again apologized for the inconvenience, although he said that he didn't have the authority to grant the refund because the manager wasn't in, he did notate my reservation so that the manager would see in the notes what happened. After two days of trying to get in touch with the day manager, Raymond and reiterating to him what had happened, he said he had to do his investigation on the situation and talk to his staff about it and he'd get back to me the next day. Afterwards he finally granted my refund and gave his apology as well.
This is the first time I have ever experienced a bad location and a bad room experience of a Holiday Inn Express Hotel. I can honestly say that we will not be back to this hotel ever again mainly because of it's location, it's pretty scary. I did appreciate the staff though.....

Customer Service Was On Point

I was skeptical pulling up to the property as it's being renovated but once I walked inside, the staff was very professional and courteous. Later that day, they called the room to see if we needed anything. A gentleman brought up toothpaste. We also like that they don't have room service but restaurants in the area deliver right to your door. I recommend this place and would definitely come back!

Not recommended, not now

Stayed at this hotel on 'vacation' in Oct. The staff was friendly, but the hotel is under reconstruction, public areas fenced off, elevator barely working. The room was ok, but noisy from the street. The bathroom door locked itself one evening so we had to call front desk to send somebody to help us. The hotel is 'downtown' which also means a lot of zombie-like people in the neighborhood. By the lake, a block away, there is a camp. There was no parking on the hotel parking one evening so we had to drive around looking for a place to park.
It is a pity Holiday Inn has so few places in LA and 'downtown' is so bad. Maybe this place will be better after reconstruction, but now it is not worth the stay, especially if you are on vacation.
BTW, I am an Elite IHG member and stay at Holiday Inn hotels a lot. I wrote to IHG with my observations but have not heard anything back form more than 10 days. Not a good service.

I wouldn't stay here again, it's over priced

This hotel is under construction which was fine. The beds are comfortable. The first night I had to chase down the crickets in my room to shut them up. The next morning at breakfast a cennapied was crawling up my husbands leg, and well breakfast was not that great, the hot food was not hot at all. I also left the dead cricket on the floor to see if housekeeping wod sweep them up and well they didnt. I was very disappointed.

Muy buena y amable atencion, habitacion, y limpieza.
El lugar esta cerca de todo el centro,Hollywood, y de buenos restaurantes.
Falta un acensor mas ya que solo hay uno y se daña en ocaciones.
Falta variar el menu que siempre es el mismo.

a great place to stay...convient to everything

We were on the 3rd floor and away from all the street noise...We could see our Tv programs after touring all day and then wake to a wonderful full breakfast. Our room was clean daily and plenty of toiletries left for the
the next day...plus coffee in our room....just excellent stay and very comfortable. Plenty of parking space..didn't have to worry at what time we came in.If we ark in the basement..we went directly to the elevator and up to our floor...no problem with parking and no parking fees to pay....just excellent ideal place to stay.

Great friendly service

Front desk staff, Aida, was very helpful and friendly at check in. She would greet us by name when coming back to the hotel, making us feel welcomed. They promptly brought up a crib we requested. Overall a great stay.
