We stay at a lot of HIE and usually expect mediocre rooms at best. This was by far the best hotel we’ve stayed at for $130. The facilities were new, indoor pool was warm, I did laundry and it wasn’t busy, and the workout room was clean and had several machines. Same great breakfast. One of the cleanest hotels we were in all week. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

- Dirty rooms with poor repair - Food safety issues with "hot" breakfast being cold - Poor customer service: no empathy, compassion, or attempt to make things better when brought to managers attention.
10/29 10:15pm - Checked in with Ms Delisa, who was very friendly and helpful. She advised hot breakfast was served from 6:00-9:30am and told me the best place to park for our room. 
The room appeared clean and the bed was made. The fridge was not cold and there wasn't a visible temperature control. There were scuff marks all over the walls in the room, stains/spills on the walls, etc. There was also a nail sticking up in the threshold going from the room to the bathroom which was nice to find overnight in the dark going into my foot.
10/30 - Came down for breakfast at 9:05am. There were 2 biscuits left and 1 omlet. We took the remaining omlet and the person behind us took the remaining biscuits. While we fed our baby and ate what we could carry at the same time, I watched as the employee lifted the lids and checked on things. The scrambled eggs were cold, omlet was cold, sausage was cold - this all at 9:05am. When I went back to see if any fresh biscuits had come out, there weren't any, and when I asked the employee stocking, he said no more were being made. 
I went to the front counter and Ms Becky told me that they stop cooking at 9:20 and it was 9:25. I said they've been out since we went through at 9:05 and she said that wasn't possible that she had been walking through too. Either she must not have been paying that close of attention, or her version of an empty pan doesn't qualify as being out of something. She was immediately argumentative and said they turn off the kitchen at 9:15. She agreed that there was a rush at 9am of guests coming down - which is what should be expected and not abnormal. Unhappily, I grabbed a bowl of dry cereal. At exactly 9:30, Ms Becky came over and closed the doors - only for all of the employees to now come through and grab food. 
So, the policy of this Holiday Inn Express should be that breakfast is from 6:00-8:30, we leave all the food out getting cold, whatever is left until 9:30, when we close the doors to our paying guests so our employees can have whatever is left.
At checkout, I made sure I visited with Ms Becky and explained all of the issues, from the dirty walls, rusted shower doors, and a nail in the floor that put a hole in my foot. She didn't ask if I was okay or show any concern. She had a very poor personality and lack of customer service from the beginning with breakfast, so I wasn't surprised. She apparently must be new since she didn't know the owners name other than "Mr. Patel". 
I'll make sure to cross this location off of my lists of returning hotels while traveling in the future and share this experience with friends and family.

Fantastic stay!

After a bad experience at a different hotel, we came to this one at 8:30 am the next morning. Mrs. Becky greeted me at the front desk with a wonderful smile and a “good morning”. One glance at the hotel as I entered and that warm greeting, I knew we were in the right place.I explained that our room at the other hotel was booked for us and that we had a bad experience there. No coffee that morning and the breakfast looked like leftover from a few days before. Mrs Becky not only got us into a room immediately, but offered breakfast at that very moment, even though we were just checking in. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over my lifetime, but never have I been treated as well as I was at this Holiday Inn & Suites. Mrs. Becky went over and above to see to it that our stay was incredible. If you are traveling to the Savannah area, don’t stay at an overpriced hotel in Savannah. This is a wonderfully clean and comfortable hotel to stay in with easy access to everything you want from dining to attractions and close to Savannah. And if Mrs. Becky is on duty, I guarantee you will be treated with the utmost kindness and respect!

Too many bugs in room to be comfortable

We have stayed here before so we didnt think we would have any issues but this last stay was horrible. As a travel agent I can guarantee that I will not ever stay here again. I will not recommend this hotel to my clients and will also tell other agents within our agency to avoid it for their clients as well. When we checked in last week we dropped our bags and went to dinner. After dinner we went back to the hotel and took showers and got ready for bed. At approximately 10:30 pm we were laying on the bed and watching television. My husband told me not to panic but to bring him my cell phone for the camera. He had seen 5 cockroaches go behind the dresser cabinet under the television. When he moved the dresser which had lots of food and dirt behind it they quickly scurried behind the closet cabinet, under the bed and one took off running towards the window. He quickly stepped on that one. When he started moving the beds around, both of them had large amounts of food and what looked like pixie stick candy, I told him I didn't care if he killed more I would rather sleep in the truck if they didn't move our rooms. My husband went down and the clerk moved our rooms to the floor below, almost directly underneath these ones. Before even bringing bags into the rooms we looked in them to make sure there were no bug issues. There were several dead smaller cockroaches in each. Since they were dead and it was now close to 11 we decided to suck it up since we were only staying one night. Now I realize that was a mistake. The next morning we woke up and went downstairs for breakfast. There was nothing wrong with breakfast as it was a typical HIE breakfast. Afterwards we went back upstairs to pack up our suitcases and right on the wall about a foot away from where I was sleeping there was a huge spider walking down the wall. I immediately took a video since I planned on speaking with the manager. After I took the video I turned to see another huge spider on the thermostat. Immediately I went downstairs and asked for the manager on duty. I told the manager about what happened the night before with the 5 huge cockroaches. The manager got defensive and tried to justify it by saying well its Georgia and we have lots of bugs and they were only palmetto bugs. Since I lived in the coastal Georgia area for over 14 years of my life that wasn't a good excuse. Since she also assumed I was dumb because that answer may work with other guests, a palmetto bug is a type of cockroach. We live in Florida where they are very common and seeing 1 isnt usually considered an issue, but with as many as we saw in our room last night would mean there's most likely an infestation. But either way I told her about the spiders and even showed her pictures of the dead palmetto bug, the roaches and the spiders and all she did was say that an exterminator is coming soon to spray. Well that may be all well and good for future guests, but I can guarantee I wont be staying there again. Very disappointed especially since the Holiday Inn brand is normally very good for their hospitality and cleanliness.

Great service and experience

I recently had a wonderful experience with this hotel and Gary at the front desk in regards to my stay over Independence day weekend. We were scrambling at the last minute to find a place to stay due to terrible original room accommodations down the road so we walked in at midnight to see if there were any rooms left on a holiday weekend. Gary was more than happy to assist us, even showed us a room before we booked, and helped us bring costs down. We knew the second we walked in we were going to be in good hands with his personality and tone. He sympathized with us, made it easy for us, and did everything he could to help us at midnight when we were scrambling for a place to stay. Our stay itself was wonderful, such a nice and clean hotel with an awesome breakfast buffet, and great location. Highly recommend.

New and modern and very clean

This is a beautiful and modern hotel. The front staff gal was so helpful and friendly. She upgraded us to a king suite and the room was lovely. Everything was clean and the bed was so comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights. I just have a few suggestions on breakfast (even during the Pandemic). I think you could offer bagels and bread for toast in a closed glass cupboard. Also, it would be nice to have apples and bananas available.

Another suggestion would be to have a pot of decaf coffee as well as regular. Some people can't drink caffeine. And my last suggestion would be to get one of those plastic containers that dispenses coffee stirrers one at a time. Yours were all together in an open container next to the coffee.
