Should have run as we were checking in

Normally I don't write reviews, but I was so dismayed by my stay I felt I should help adjust others expectations (downward).
Upon arrival we was told we didn't have a reservation. When I showed our email to the clerk, they suddenly realized I had already checked in on-line. She opened a "magic" drawer and found our reservation. The clerk seemed to be completely unfamiliar with the reservation/check-in system.
The lobby was a wreck as new tile was being placed. I will probably look fine when it is done. The web site does say that the hotel would have a major renovation completed in July 2021. As we stayed on July 29, you would think it would be almost done - no way is the end of July possible. The work will go on for several more weeks, maybe months. Suggestion - Update the web site so potential customers can get the real story and make a good decision.
Our room looked like it had been partially renovated. New tile in bathroom, possibly new carpet. When you looked closer, you realized that after the workmen placed the tile, that the bathroom floor had not been cleaned. There were work boot prints on the floor that could not be removed with water. I wet a spare washcloth and used it to wipe one, just one, of the floor tiles. See the picture below. The door knobs were splattered with paint and possibly adhesive/grout, and that detracted from the new tile.
The toilet was very visibly crooked when compared to the tile and wall. Still worked fine, but it's an indication that management is not watching the work being done do be sure it is appealing and right.
Work did not stop at 6 pm as was suggested by the front desk. There were hammer drills and hammering until 6:30/6:45. Not that big an issue but.........
It looks to me like a renovation is being accomplished with a low level contractor that is not providing good work, followed up by a cleaning staff that is unconcerned (maybe due to the excess dirt created by the renovation) and a front desk staff that is uninformed, un-involved, or poorly trained. It's too bad, this spot has the potential to be a nice hotel. I've stayed at worse hotels, but never a HI Express at this level. I hope they will use this feedback to improve the work that is going on there.

They staff was so accommodating, very nice, and very welcoming. The room was very clean, and had everything I needed. I didn't use the pool, but next time I'll bring my suit. It had a really nice hot tub and pool area. The breakfast had a wide assortment, so it was easy to get a nice breakfast and then get on my way. There were lots of places for shopping and eating right around the hotel area. Very nice.

Stayed here for a business weekend and was impressed. There's not a better hotel in the area for the price!

I was on vacation traveling and had been using Holiday Inn Express. Due to a severe storm coming I needed to find a place to stay the night . Of course I wanted a Holiday Inn. Sure enough once I decided to stop there was a Holiday Inn at the next exit. This was a wonderful place to stay for the night to let the storm pass.
I totally recommend you stay at this Holiday Inn Express.
Warm friendly lobby and wonderful variety for breakfast.

I have stayed in quite a few hotels recently for business and I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. Well let me say it is not hype. The hotel was fabulous and you must try it for yourself. Kudos to Holiday Inn Express you have anew friend for life! Keep up the outstanding work.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable during my stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only knock is that they did not have my IHG number on file despite having stayed here several times in the past.
