Staff & Guest - One of my worst IHG stays

As a Gold IHG member and having stayed here last summer, along with reading more recent reviews during this period of COVID-19 that were positive, I was disgusted and immensely disappointed with several things, including:

1) Your team who were “wearing” a mask, but on numerous occasions while checking in myself and another family member either had their mask exposing their nose and/or worse, removing their mask and placing it down by their neck/chin while speaking to us.

2) This type of behavior from staff then should not surprise me by the lack of number of guests wearing masks or trying to share elevators with perfect strangers during this time, and completely ignoring social distancing. I noticed signs on the top floor indicating elevator procedures, but nothing on the 1st floor - inconsistent and it was not something addressed at check-in by your staff.

3) I assume you have video surveillance that can corroborate just the surface of what I’ve shared in #1 & #2, and thus should not be surprised.

4) On top of all of this, we turned back our sheets to find a very long dark hair on the fitted sheet. Your team did their job by coming in and replacing all the sheets. But I’ll just say this was the “cherry” on top of this utterly disappointing stay at a hotel chain that I have chosen to be a client of for a number for years.

5) At the time of our checkout, whomever the staff member was, a younger male member of your team, took our keys and handed me a receipt, never asking or even looking me in the eye to inquire about our stay. This unfortunately just shows me the lack of care for their job and thus the customers, such as myself and my family. Very disconcerting during this season.

This was one of the most disappointing stays in my history with IHG and I’ve stayed all over. I will think twice before supporting this location again.

During this pandemic, as cases are on the rise again, I expect more of establishments with IHG/Holiday Inn Express history of serving guests, even more so now. I don’t believe this are high expectations to meet, but purely things that should be happening per CDC, Health Dept, and IHGs own policies and procedures.
