Great Staff

Myself and my brother stayed at this hotel form 19th Oct to 21st Oct and again from 25th Oct to 28th Oct.

While the hotel is comparable to most others in its class, what sets is apart is the friendly attitude of its staff.

Our special thanks to Anushka, Angela and Jessica who went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable.
Thanks also to Mr.Ramakrishna who immediately fixed a problem with the thermostat.

Good Location and Good Value

I spent 25 nights at this property - easily long enough to experience the good and the bad. The location near the airport is an obvious benefit, but there is also easy access to the train station and a quick 15 minute ride to the Zurich HB. Given the relatively low cost (by Swiss standards) this is not a bad choice if you want to spend a few days for excursions in and around Zurich. There are walking/biking/roller blading trails very close by. There are Aldi and Migros markets a short walk down the street, along with a liquor store and a Subway sandwich shop. There is a McDonalds just a bit further down on the opposite side of the road - I never went there but if you have restless kiddies that might be a welcome option.

The morning breakfast buffet is enjoyable, but be aware that it can get crowded on some days depending on tour groups that frequent this property. The breakfast hours generously span 4am to 10am. The dinner menu is limited but the food is satisfying and the portions are large. I can recommend the pizza, which is plenty big enough for two people to share.

The rooms are comfortable, but don't expect American-style amenities. There is no clock radio, for example. Tip: You need to put your room key card into the holder by the door to turn on the power. The A/C works but you can only adjust the temperature within a set range. The real drawback is during humid weather, or after a hot shower, you can't use the A/C to dehumidify effectively. I found that the bed with a heavy duvet and some sort of rubberized mattress pad sleeps hot, and I could never get the room cool enough to make it consistently comfortable. Your experience may vary on that point.

If you are renting a car during your visit don't overlook the option of room rates including the parking fee. I shopped around on this point and found that it's a very good deal compared to similar properties.

Now for the bad - there were a couple of issues that you likely won't experience in a typical visit. My long stay apparently caused my outstanding bill to exceed some limit, and the hotel locked me out of my room and the front desk person was nothing short of rude in demanding that I pay the bill. I was entirely put off by the manner such a simple issue was handled. In addition to that, I paid for the Super Speed Internet and it failed to work the last 10 days of my visit. The front desk acknowledged the problem and promised to refund the charges, but did not do so.

Tip: if you have work to do you DO need to pay for the higher speed internet. The free "high-speed" internet is not - it is almost unusable. If you think you will need working internet don't log into the free internet ever, at all, because if you do it becomes difficult or impossible to log into the paid working internet afterwards.

All considered, I was happy to have chosen the Holiday Inn Express at Zurich Airport and would not hesitate to visit again if my business brings me this way.

well organized with airport shuttle to hotel and vis versa. hotel staff was very friendly, the front desk even called up to the room after check-in to make sure all was well. room was decent size, clean and comfortable. only request I would have, is to stock the bathroom with a few more amenities like lotions and conditioners those were lacking. the restaurant on the premises has a very limited menu, but we found a good Italian place 200 meters down the street on recommendation of the staff. that was lacking. otherwise would definitely stay there again on my way in or out of zurich.
tip: make sure you book your shuttle to the airport from the hotel the night before, as it tends to fill up in the morning hours.

Convenient hotel

It is close to Zurich airport and offers free shuttle bus to pick up and drop off.
The shuttle bus availability can be very dicey specially in the mornings to go to airport. Book the seat well in advance.
Very few eating options in walking distance.
The staff are of indifferent quality with some very good and friendly and some who are cold.

Nice Hotel; but poor choice of food

It is a nice and comfortable hotel; but the selection af food available was a bit poor. On Thursday morning breakfast was nice with Egg, Bacon and sausages available; but this selection was not available Friday morning, having a poor selection of food choices.

Hotel Staff were Great

The front desk staff, bar staff and night manager were fantastic. Song and Ying were so pleasant, Cristian the chef, Wassily the waiter and Welz the same. And others whose name I do not remember were great, too.

Mediocre

The room is ok but the service in lounge is not great. When the guests arrive in group the check in process makes other individual guest waiting. Need an extra staff at front desk in the evening.

Great hotel, excellent train connection to downtown

only needed to stay one night, but very short notice. Major hotels downtown were twice the price, and all booked. Came by train, but stayed at this hotel at the airport anyway, since it was not only available, but had excellent train connections to downtown - 20 minutes each way, runs every half hour early till late - worked out perfect!
