I reserved a king bed with jetted tub. When we were headed to the hotel we were told that room selection was no longer available. We were given an accessible room without a jetted tub. The head board was filthy. You could see smudges and water/splash stains all over it. The assisted grips in the bathroom did not look like they had been well cleaned in a long time.

Poor service

So, I’ve stayed here multiple times with my family! The first couple times were really great. Then after a few stays it went downhill. They got our room wrong not once, not twice but multiple times! I finally had enough of it, and canceled my stay when they wouldn’t give me the room I ORIGINALLY booked, instead the girl I believe Emily was her name kept on telling me it was the right room… no I booked a full suite.. she tried giving me 2 queen bed room, and then 2 queen and a sofa. No… I booked a suite! They did it once before and I just said whatever and stayed. Well the time I was going to stay I booked a suite on February 27th, and the same girl did the SAME thing. Well this morning I called to verify that I could get an early check in and the lady I spoke to said YES. I got there and they said no and made us wait all the way until check in time just to give us the WRONG room AGAIN. This time I had ENOUGH. I cancelled my reservation, and I went elsewhere where I got my full suite like I originally booked. I do not recommend them at all. It’s seriously horrible service. Whatever you do, save your time, and save your money. I do not recommend at all.

1 blemish ruined the whole thing

My experience with hotels in the Holiday Inn Express is so good that we look for them above others when travelling.

In this case, much of the stay was at or above par, but there are two related blemishes that ruined what would otherwise be a glowing review.

First, the good. The location is excellent - Splash Lagoon and restaurants are all walking distance away. We stayed in a Kids Suite that was laid out perfectly for our family (2 adults, 2 children ages 5 and 7). Their separate area was primed to be a godsend - but more on that later.

But, now to the problem. Several of us have an allergy to feathers, and paired with our asthma can become a big issue. In every other case where I've found feather pillows in a hotel, I've been able to call the front desk and have replacements made available.

In this case, not only were the pillows not replaced, I was told that first, because the hotel had no policy to have hypoallergenic pillows on hand there were none available.

When I exclaimed how much of a surprise that was, I was told that there was a Wal Mart up the road where I could purchase new pillows.

The idea that I should purchase pillows because an orgtanization based upon hospitality could not be bothered to prepare was unique to this location among the IHG hotels I've stayed in.

In the end, the wonderful setup of the room was ruined when the 4 of us had to share the 1 pillow that wouldn't send us to the hospital.

Very dirty room

Our room was very dirty, There were black spots on the bed linens, Plastic wrappers under the side of one bed, mold under the soap dish and mold around the top of the toilet bowl. Also 2 light bulbs were out in the room. Breakfast was excellent and the staff seemed friendly.

Absolutely Disgusting!

This hotel falsely advertises what it really is. And, what it really is, is complete filth. We booked a Kids Suite, which alone outside of a package deal was $279! We stayed in Room 219 (so if you get this room, GOOD LUCK!). Upon entering the room we were greeted with an overwhelming smell of stale cigarette smoke. I mean. Overwhelming. Nauseating. There was dirt and rocks everywhere, in every corner, stains all over the walls from food splatter, and the tub was filthy. I didn’t even want to take my shoes off! The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. However, the sheets were stained with what looked like black mold and the pillow cases also had what looked to be dried blood stains on them. Additionally, we were kept awake most of the night due to the people above us letting their children jump around and run around the room until all hours of the night/early morning. Overall, this was a disaster of an experience. Thankfully we only stayed one night. Had I not purchased a package deal in the Spring for $99, which included the room and two days of park passes, I’d have never left there without a free stay. The $99 alone paid for the park for two days, so I didn’t go out of my way to complain to the hotel staff. We just left the next day vowing to never return! Do not waste your money!

Worse experience

When we first got our room key, we went up to the 4th floor, opened the door, and there was another family already in the room, we apologized to them, so embarrassing! Brought all of our luggage back down, waited for someone to help us, and then explained to them that the room they gave us was already taken by another family. Why did the key even work if it was already booked? Makes me believe that anyone could just get into any rooms! We finally got a different room number. When we arrived, the room was not clean, the bath/shower was dirty. Stains on our comforter. We only had 3 TOWELS, for a PARTY OF 5. There was no remote for the tv. There was no extra sheets or blankets for the pull out sofa. To make things worse, we tried to call down to request those things and our phone was missing a cord. My boyfriend had to go downstairs just for them to tell him that they have no towels available at the moment, hand him the remote, and a bunch of sheets and blankets. Shouldn’t staff bring that to our rooms?? Then he had to stand in a long elevator line, while holding all the sheets and blankets to bring back up to us. This was the worse experience, we were better off staying a motel up the street, and we will definitely not be back!

Bed Bugs, dirty room and GM with Bad Attirude

Bed bugs room 315.
Me, my fiancé and 3 of our four girls (one being 5 months old) were are alive by bed bugs.. We were and are still extremely welted your, itching and burning pain and just flat out discomfort.

Upon searching we found it was infested. Bedding wasn’t as clean as appearing at first sight. Someone else’s blood on pillow case. Someone else’s hair clip under pull out..

Mike the weekend manager and Deborah the head of house keeping were apologetic and told me I would receive a complete refund INCLUDING splash lagoon expenses that were included in my package. Told me to keep the pics and videos and speak to their GM who would call me Monday..

She never called, I had to reach out to her.. she was rude, made me feel like a liar, denied needing to even talk to me or needing my pictures and videos and told me I was only going to be compensated for just the room because we still “enjoyed” splash lagoon which is not what I was told..

It was not enjoyable. My girls cried, complained and itched the whole time. No witchhazel, benedryl or hydrocortisone cream worked.. it is known fact that the burning, itch and welts last 7-10 days..

Trip was $508.. and then spent another $350 between food, arcade and gift shop.. I now have to treat my home which is anywhere from $200-$700 and possibly even more.. and the little $100-$200 for the room is suppose to make me happy?

I was a 15 year returning customer .. I will now never return..


I have over a dozen pictures and videos and am contemplating contacting the news

Bed bugs, ham day unpleasant GM

Bed bugs ROOM 315 My fiancé, myself and our kids woke up to find that we were ate alive by bed bugs. Upon searching we found the room was infested.. Myself and the kids had a panic attack about the possibility of bringing them home. Mike and Deborah, were very apologetic and OFFERED a full refund and stated it would include already paid for splash lagoon expenses as well. Because this was reasonable I said I would not post a review or the videos or pictures. Mike told me keep them for when the GM would call me on Monday.. Today she never called. I reached out to her on my lunch break because I didn’t want to miss her call and couldn’t be guaranteed to take it upon returning to work.. she had an attitude immediately. I explained that I was only calling because I didn’t hear from her and couldn’t play phone tag.. she continued to be very rude in tone and told me she didn’t need my pictures or videos her exterminator would “do an investigation”.. the room was dirty in other aspects also that I didn’t bother to get into detail over but so have pictures.. someone else’s blood was on the pillow case on a pillow we didn’t even use !!
She told me I was only going to be reimbursed for the room.. because we “enjoyed” splash lagoon still.. that little $200 is the cost of a bottle of crossfire .. which I need two to treat my house and car to be safe. An exterminator if I get infested is $700 for a non guaranteed one time treatment.. and if you call me being pregnant and not riding anything and paying my way to sit at the table just to see the girls smile a good time to begin with then ok.. but it deff wasn’t enjoyable when all 3 girls cried non stop about the burning and itching pain the bugs caused that no witchhazel, hydrocortisone or Benadryl would take away. The welts burning and itching is still current and will be for DAYS possibly over a week. This is a known bed bug fact.. I have been a 15 year returning customer to splash lagoon, I will NEVER return because of not only the attitude I received from the GM, but the false hope and misinformation I received when I didn’t ask for.. as well as all the extra money and inconviences I am spending and experience after as a result.. Not like holiday inn multi million dollar franchise can’t afford what they offered to refund me originally while I go spend an extra 200, 400 or even $700 on top of the $1,000 I spent between the room, tickets and food.. But thank god im getting back $200 (pure sarcasm) It’s not splash Lagoons fault but I should have never been told they were going to cover it and when things like this happen they should foot the bill flat out.. pictures and videos if necessary.. crosta918@gmail.com

Disappointed

I'll start with the positives: the location is great because it's fight off I90 and near alot of places to eat and shop. The staff were nice and when I had an issue with my room, they upgraded me no hesitation or argument. The blond woman working (I believe she was a manager) was very sweet and I always saw her working hard everywhere. I enjoyed chatting with the other staff and everyone was friendly. That being said, I was very disappointed in this hotel. The rooms were not clean. We booked a Splash Lagoon package and I booked an extra night just through the hotel. The kids room was just a room with a broken down enclosure with a cheap bunk bed. I found zip ties holding the top railing on and the mattresses were torn and didn't cover the bed. My kids got stuck multiple times. The microwave was dark brown and burnt on the inside, the carpet was disgusting, the beds were very uncomfortable. We did get a new room, a 2 room suite. Even though the space worked much better, it was still gross. The previous persons trash was still left, the carpet wasn't vacuumed, I found hairs all over the room and had to wipe out the microwave and counters in that room. For 200 a night, I get the main attraction is being connected with Splash Lagoon, but jeez. Clean the rooms and fix stuff. If we ever go to Slpash Lagoon again I am not staying at the connected hotels, we will gladly drive 5 minutes down the road from a better hotel.

Room was NOT clean and breakfast.. well no.

My daughters and I have stayed at this location before and we've had good experiences. We usually choose this location when we're going to Splash Lagoon since it's attached.

This time is making us question whether to return.
When we got there, the woman who checked us in and the guest ahead of us was incredibly rude to the other guest and us. It's not like we tried checking in early. It was literally 11pm because I had to work all day and then drive two and a half hours to get there.

When we got to our room, my girls were so excited about the big bath tub as we got the "kid's suite" with the big whirlpool tub.. except that the tub was dirty. There was dirt and hair in the tub.

Then in the "kid's room" the bunk beds were all worn down looking with ratty blankets and scratched up beds. There were crumbs smashed all over the floor, which we discovered was from the bag of smashed donuts in the drawer of the dresser, YES it was still there.

The bed was made but there were spots on the blanket that made me believe it was not clean, so luckily we had our own blankets.

Then they don't mention when you book OR at the time of check-in that your "included continental breakfast" is actually the option of a pear or orange, greek yogurt and grape juice. That's literally what they offered us for breakfast. Then said "hot breakfast starts tomorrow." Okay, why was this not mentioned beforehand so I could've brought food that my kids actually eat? Instead I had to leave and get them breakfast.

For a hotel that's pushing COVID-19 safety measures and saying how they're committed to guest safety, I can't believe how untidy our room was. Clearly it was NOT cleaned properly at all.

The only good thing was that the woman when we checked out was very friendly.
