The worst Holiday Inn Express I have ever stayed in

By

July 08, 2021

This hotel gives Holiday Inn Express a bad name. I specifically stay in Holiday Inn Express hotels because they are typically very consistent....clean room, friendly desk agents, good breakfast. This hotel FAILS MISERABLY on all counts!!! If this had been the first Holiday Inn Express that I had ever stayed in, I would be completely turned off and would never stay in another. Upon arrival, there was no one at the check-in desk....instead, there was a hand written note on a torn piece of paper on the desk that instructed me to call for assistance. When I finally connected with the agent, she was clearly not happy to have to do some work. The room was not clean.....tags from someone's new clothing were on the carpet, hairs in sink, etc. In fact, while I was checking in, someone came to the desk to ask for cleaning supplies so that he could clean the room himself (really bad during Covid!!!). As others have commented, breakfast is a complete joke. I went to get a hot beverage 30 minutes after breakfast opened.....no hot water, no coffee, no cups. The person finally brought coffee....no cups, no hot water for tea. I had to go ask again for assistance....and the person sitting at the desk was obviously more interested in playing on the computer than in helping a guest. I checked out the breakfast area.....and I use that term loosely. There were 4 sandwich bags with 2 slices of bread each to toast....no muffins, bagels, etc. The cereal area contained about 20 pre-packaged containers of Frosted Flakes and 1 of Corn Flakes. Refrigerator had a sign saying that it was broken so there was no milk, no eggs, no yogurt, no butter. The fruit offering consisted of some small, brown orange unidentifiable things. Several of the juice dispensers were empty. One guest with two small children asked the attendant for milk for her kids.....and was given one half pint container. As more people arrived for breakfast, she brought out a handful of other items....3 or 4 bagels, a couple of muffins. We asked for butter.....she walked out of the breakfast area, into the kitchen, and then walked back with just a couple of mini tubs of butter. So any other guest who might want to "splurge" on a piece of toast had to request his/her own butter. I made a snide comment to the others in my party that the lady running the breakfast area was acting like she had to pay for each item from her own pocket....based on other comments made about this hotel, perhaps that was actually the case. And, by the way, I stayed at a different Holiday Inn Express the following night....and it was everything that I expected. It's just this particular hotel that is a complete disaster.

TERRIBLE Breakfast Service! Awful food!

By

July 05, 2021

If you are expecting any kind of decent breakfast service at this hotel, you will be EXTREMELY disappointed and upset by how absolutely HORRIBLE the Breakfast is! The quality of food being provided is the WORST that I have ever seen and experienced at ANY hotel that I have ever stayed at! There is NO hot breakfast items and the food variety is actually VERY shocking! NO eggs, NO bacon or sausage, NO potatoes, NO breakfast sandwiches, NO pancakes or waffles, NO English muffins or regular muffins. ONLY some slices of bread, plain bagels, cereal, oatmeal, and some low quality fruit that looks like it's almost rotten! The woman running the Breakfast is clearly the owners wife (NOT a professional food service employee) and it is obvious that they do not care. They are only providing the cheapest, bare minimum quality food. Also, the juice machine was totally empty by 8 am and not refilled even though breakfast is supposed to last until 9:30. The hotel is unfortunately just a franchise that is independently owned and operated by an Indian named LLC and the quality is obviously not up to the same high standards as a Corporate run Holiday Inn Express. I've stayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations and this is one of the worst. The maid service and cleanliness in this hotel is also lacking. The bathroom in my room was not as clean as it should have been and the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were EMPTY! Do yourself a favor: skip the terrible breakfast and go to the Town and Country Diner near the hotel instead! I would NOT stay here again unless the owners make improvements and step up their quality of the services that they should be providing!

Disappointed

I'm sorry to say this is the least enjoyable stay we've had at a Holiday Inn. The staff only spoke when spoken to - not friendly at all. The drain in the shower was so slow that you ended up standing in ankle deep water while showering. After a day of exhausting sightseeing, we arrived back to our room only to find out our keys had been deactivated. Had to go back down to the desk for new keys - no apologies whatsoever. While my son and I were standing in the hall way waiting for my husband to come back with the keys, there was a staff person who must have been checking rooms who saw us just standing there - no offer to help or asking if something was wrong. Apparently we were invisible (my son is 5'11" and 250 pounds - I'm pretty sure she saw us). We were so anxious to leave that we were gone at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast consisted of two kinds of bagels, no butter, cream cheese and grape jelly, four kinds of cold cereal and two kinds of oatmeal. Milk, juice and some kind of breakfast sandwiches that you could nuke in the microwave. We went out for breakfast both days. If we hadn't had wonderful stays at other Holiday Inns, this would have been the first and last Holiday Inn stay. We were also never offered a copy of our bill, which ended up being $40 more than was stated on our reservation. I'm still trying to find out what the difference was.
