Poor cleanliness

After unpacking and settling in a closer look at the bathroom showed me that it had never been cleaned.
Wet wash rags and bars of soap in the bathtub toilet that have never been wiped down towels that were not refreshed and no cups to drink from.
Unfortunately I will not be staying at this location again.

I was eaten alive by bedbugs at this hotel. I’ve been an IHG rewards member for years and the few times I’ve had a negative experience, the corporate office and the hotel did their best to make it right. On this occasion, the IHG corporate office displayed stellar customer service, apologized, awarded me points for the inconvenience, and assured me the hotel would do their part. The hotel fell very short. No apology. No email. No additional points. No assurance they’d correct the public health issue. Only a dry voicemail stating I’d be refunded the money I paid. I should have known customer service would be an issue by the way the young lady acted when we checked in, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I’m waiting to see what other steps will be taken before I reach out to the local health department as bed bugs can cause huge issues to the public upon spreading. A simple refund doesn’t even begin to cover the inconvenience of me going to the doctor, the copay from my insurance, and the sleepless nights due to skin irritation from scratching. Not to mention I found two bed bugs in my luggage upon unpacking. My reference number is Reference 10505841253. Do the right thing, Holiday Inn Express Emporium, Kansas.

When we got off the elevator the dog smell was over powering. Our room had been sprayed to hid the dog smell. The spray wore off before morning. When we checked in we asked the clerk about dogs. She said she DID NOT know which rooms may have had dogs in but the rooms where cleaned according to some standard. I woke up every 2 hours sneezing because of the smell.
I called and talked to the manager and she was less than helpful. She did say the ALL THE ROOMS where dog friendly. If we had been informed the whole place being dog friendly we would not have stayed there.

Everything was good about this hotel during our stay, my only issue was the $40 we had to pay for our 2 small dogs for the nite seems a bit excessive, especially since there are not even any poop bag/waste stations anywhere by the exit doors, so why the high fee?

Stayed on July 4/5. Read another review about the breakfast which is usually quite good. Problem seemed to be with staffing numbers. On July 5 there was only one person handling both the breakfast and front desk duties. He was a bit overwhelmed and did his best. But more staff was clearly needed based on what I saw for guest numbers.
The check in went well. Hotel was nice and comfortable. Well situated to the highways and local restaurants.
Would stay again but not around a major holiday.

We loved our stay here -from the minute we drove up to the covered entrance (key as it was pouring rain!) we were welcomed by a great front desk agent. The hotel is clean, quiet and offered great service by the staff.

Room was spacious, very clean. Like stay the night before at Santa Rosa, NM, staff was very welcoming upon arrival. Liked the size of the pillows - not typical huge, uncomfortable things some hotels like to use lately. These were a normal size & just right firmness. Breakfast was good, liked that the coffee/tea area was on opposite side of dining room from the food prep area.

My visit was very comfortable and relaxing. The room was clean and well maintained. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom appeared to be cleaned well.

We checked in late and still had great customer service. Our room was very nice, spacious and clean.
Couldn't get the room quite cool enough for my liking, but overall a great experience and I would stay here again.

When I checked in at the desk issued a room key on the 3rd floor. Upon entry into the room I found it to have the bedding piled on the bed and the room not prepared. I had to drag my suitcase back down to the front desk and 15 minutes later I was assigned another room.
This does not seem to happen at other motels I stay at. Normally I stay at other brands, thought I would try a Holiday Inn Express. I stay between 50 and 100 nights per year in motel rooms.
