Hotel was nice and staff was wonderful. Olivia went out of her way to make us feel welcome and help with our refrigerator not working.

These rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade. This hotel does not meet the standards of the Holiday Inns I'm use to staying in. You can definitely tell this one is privately owned. The rooms are horrible. Wet carpet, broken/leaking AC units, running toilets, fruit flies, mildew smell, bathroom smell like urine, phone without cords, old sofa w/cracked leather, bathroom fixtures are outdated. The front desk workers (Brooke and Ashley) were VERY helpful with making our reservations and trying to accommodate us while there. Our group had 20 rooms. At least 8 of us had to switch rooms due to the reasons listed above. The GM was very Rude! She made our stay very unpleasant. She even went as far as calling the police on some of our group because they were smoking ACROSS THE STREET from the hotel. When the police arrived he laughed and joked about receiving such a PETTY call and proceeded to tell the GM that we weren't doing any wrong and that she had falsely accused us of violating the hotel policy. Her rudeness on top of the horrible rooms made for a very unpleasant stay!

My family had an overall terrific stay. The woman we worked with the most, Amanda, was great. She was very friendly and answered all of my questions about my credit card benefits and the expenses for my stay. Additionally, she went out of her way to buy treats for pets that come stay at the hotel. My daughter loved the indoor pool that, while small, was perfect for us to spend a couple of hours of down time. When the hotel lost power due to a nasty storm, the entire staff kicked things into high gear to help all of their guests any way they could. Even my wife who normally hates staying in hotels was happy with our stay. Thanks to Amanda and the rest of the staff, I will not only use this hotel again the next time I'm in Havelock, I will consider using Holiday Inn Express on any other trips I take.
Worst hotel stay

I came to Havelock for my Son's funeral and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. This stay was simply daunting during a difficult time for my wife and I. The room was in poor condition. The toilet took 5-6 flushes for anything to go down, The caulking around the toilet was disintegrating. The shower took 22 minutes to heat up. Room service came to the room, replaced towels but failed to make the bed or straiten up. But the worst was when my wife woke up to find a roach on the bed. When I reported this all on checkout the attending manager apologized and appeared to be concerned but said he would have to talk with the manger who was off on Sunday. The positive was the breakfast area was kept up and had a good variety that would appeal to most. Being military I would caution others to stay away from this hotel and maybe go next door to the HI.
