Subpar service

By

February 11, 2022

Hotel prices are fairly high in Phoenix this time of the year and this hotel is no exception.

First some good things.
- The room was relatively clean when we checked in.
- The AC and fridge were quiet. Sometimes they can be loud in certain older hotels.

This mostly comes from being a fairly new building (I think ~2 years old).

On the other hand the overall service was quite subpar which forces me to reduce the rating quite a bit:

- No masks worn by front desk staff. In the middle of a pandemic wave.

- No housekeeping... because pandemic? Why don't they care about the pandemic when it comes to wearing masks, but suddenly they do care when it comes to providing housekeeping service? I had to ask a housekeeping lady in the hallway for some toilet paper.

- At 4:00am one night the phone rang randomly and loudly waking us up. Just one ring and stopped. We unplugged the phone afterwards but sleep was disrupted.

- This is an international airport hotel, but the Airport shuttle runs only from 7am to 10pm. Our flight landed at 10:30pm. Tough luck to us. Airport hotel's airport shuttle doesn't run at that time.

- Internet speeds are pretty slow. I had to use my phone's tethering functions to have a Teams video meeting on my laptop.

- Welcome amenity points for higher status IHG rewards members were never given. I know it's such a small thing to even mention, but it's the principle. When I asked I was told they will "automatically post" after checkout. That's absolutely not true (and of course they didn't post). Welcome Amenity Points are given manually, as front desk staff normally have to ask if I want the points or the snack/water. So there either was a lack of training for this aspect on the part of the front desk staff, or they just didn't care enough. Either way disappointing.

Best Holiday Inn I've Seen

This whole property was amazing! It was all so clean and visually appealing. The rooms were clean and well kept. There were a lot of breakfast options everyday and the woman serving breakfast was so kind along with the rest of the staff. 10/10 recommend this property.

My car's catalytic converter was stolen at the parking lot

Just stayed in the hotel for one night, in fact just 6 hours. I parked my car in the hotel's parking lot during the stay. Found that my car's catalytic converter was cut off and stolen in the morning when I started the car's engine to leave. It would cost me $2000~$3000 to fix the problem. Talked to the staff at the hotel and the only thing they could do was to tell me how to file a police report online. The hotel is a new hotel but it is not secure at all!

Left behind merchandise

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for the convenience of being close to family gatherings for the holiday. We ended up extending the stay 1 extra night due to my boyfriend getting sick and not feeling well enough to be around family. On 12/26 we left in a hurry for a newly opened appointment for a rapid Covid test near the hotel. After leaving, I realized we had forgotten a bag with Christmas gifts in the room. The bag contained a bottle of Dior savauge cologne, Chanel bleu cologne, a pair of club master ray bans, and another pair of gold rimmed ray bans. In total about $530 worth of gifts. When I called the same night, the gentleman told me protocol was for house keeping to then the items over to management, and they log it into lost and found. He also assured me that he would check and give me a call back since he was the only person working at the time, and he was super busy. He never called so I called back only for him to tell me he had or had time to look. I said ok, and that we would wait for the call back. He never called.
I called the next morning on 12/27/21 and the lady said she didn’t see any of the items in lost and found. I understand that we left the bag, but I have forgotten things before at other establishments and got them back without a problem. Moral of the story is, if you forget something at this hotel, consider it a tip for the staff because you will NOT GET IT BACK!!
