Bedbug and Carpet bug bites and never got settled with hotel

This is a real review. We love this hotels and we had never been this situations. We travel in business and family. Most of the hotels that we trusted is IHG hotels. BUT this spring break vocation we had to say something unhappy.
Hotel rooms are not fully cleaned, floor has previous customers nails, instant noodle crumbs, cereals and the towel has other people hair. The bathroom cabinet has dusty and all of these we could compromise and we could understand. During the busy season, it might happen.
i have all the pictures as proof whoever want to see i can send to you.
Hotel rooms keys are out of work every other day, we were locked outside the gate and waited other customer to open the door. we couldn't get into the room, called front desk, they send someone in 27 mins. i told myself, i am so regret to choose this hotel with my dad and my kid. Since this is a happy vocation, we didn't complaint and go get new keys every other days.
BUT something i cant compromise is my 6 year old kid got totally 11 bites from bedbug and carpet beetles kinds of the bug bites. it happened right the 2nd morning. We didn't pay attention, we though it was mosquitos stings. But mosquitos will never bite in chain and had pain not only itchy.
We never had any experience until we video chat with family friends and kids complained about pain on the skin. it bothered him walk.
we had to use the hot air blow the bed and frames, crazily checking the bugs to midnight, we are exhausted.
i am upset that we have to suffer these. my son's belly, back, legs, butt has large red infected bites. I thought this will go away and it is not. so i contacted the travel agent. the customer service, they transferred me to front desk.
i asked a solution and they didnt take this issue seriously.
i am 100% sure, we are not the only person had bedbug/carpet beetles bite experience in this hotel.
I am simply request a refund and investigation on this room.
i cant compromise on this.

Happy PaPa!

The service was great at this hotel! This staff treated us like we were real people.

The room was clean, staff brought towels upon request and we loved their little store for all those 'extras' you forget at home.

We did laundry twice; there is a near by dollar type store may our stay even more economical. Fast food for tight schedules was available right across the street and Applebee's right inside this hotel! Nice big bus to take you to the theme parks is included! Little movie theater for kids, games at pool on the hour etc...!

Dan ( Activity Director) even clued us in the perfect spot to see the New Year's Fireworks at all the theme parks. That was cool, the granddaughters enjoyed it too.

They even gave me a wheelchair to use all week ( unexpected back issue). Had they not, I would have missed going with granddaughters to theme parks. They have really nice activities for kids. Jeff and Dan's great leadership should receive a reward from IHG hotel in my humble opinion. You can tell they focus on service. You can be in a brand new hotel and without great service, well, you get what I'm saying.

When extra note, this vacation was especially important because it was planned for our 6 and 8 year old granddaughters. They 3 months earlier suddenly lost their dad from the virus. They are in the process of grieving and we wanted to help them see though they must grieve and they'll never be the same, they still live and their dad would want them to move forward in life. We see (2 weeks later) a marked positive difference since this trip. Thankful on the positive part the staff of this hotel played.

Good workers, many problems

Our room AC unit only worked for a couple of nights. They were supposed to fix it while we were out for the day but it didn’t happen. We called again and someone came to replace it. It again froze up in the middle of the night, they came to fix it again. They had to come 3 different times to fix it. We only had AC for about a total of 3 days during our 9 day stay. They never offered to let us change rooms. However, after the first time it didn’t happen they would call to make sure someone came to fix it. They told us no maid service was available, which I get but we stayed with another family and their room had maid service every other day so not consistent. The sheets kept coming off the beds so I had to call for new sheets and remake all the beds myself. (We had a family suite with 2 bunks). I would have to call daily for fresh towels, they would bring 3 towels for our family if 5. I felt like I was calling all the time for garbage bags, toilet paper, sheets and towels. Plus the pool heater was broken so the pool was freezing.

Pleasantly surprised!

Jeff Swirsky (GM) and Dan the Magic Man need top awards from Holiday Inn for service!! The hotel over the Christmas and New Years (Dec 27 - Jan 4th, 2022 our stay) was a full hotel. Yet, the staff (and that comes from the top down) was very serving, kind and sensitive.

Our goal was to encourage our two grand daughter's (6 and 8 yrs old) because 3 months ago Covid-19 took their daddy from them (he was 44). We were giving the girls this trip to remind them, though their daddy died and they are hurting, he would want them to move forward , enjoy life and live. We believe the trip added to that sense of hope and even saw some signs of encouragement in their faces. They are having a very tough time but we hope with continued love and counselling, they will more and more move forward and treasure their dad's memory and deep love.

I had a shocking and unfortunate painful back issue occur just before I got to the hotel to start our stay. I was supposed to go to Sea World, Lego Land and Disney with my wife, daughter and especially our 2 precious grand daughters (6 and 8 yrs old).

What did the hotel staff do? First, they gave me a wheel chair to use to go to all the parks - with no charge! I would absolutely not have been able to go without that chair and the long planning and sacrifices would have been lost. And with a full hotel, they were prompt on towel, coffee and other requests.

Dan the Magic Man, I can't say enough. Our grand daughters' stay at the hotel with Dan's activities from your hourly pool games, theater room and more, really helped make their stay memorable and enjoyable. The big bus to the parks each day and pickup made it a lot easier and saved money. (Tip: If you go to Disney World Magic Kingdom, it takes about an hour and 10 minutes to get to the bus to take you home.. so be very watchful of your time).

I was very thankful we picked this hotel of all hotels, Dan even let us in on a 'secret' by letting us know the best spot to see the New Years fireworks from all the parks from the top floor, it was cool and the kids loved it.

The heated outdoor pool was inviting so the girls stayed there so much they even made new friends.

I guess you see why now I totally and easily recommend this resort hotel and if they can pull this off with a packed hotel, I'm sure the other days of the year are great too!

The management and staff (Front Desk Staff was very helpful) believe in and give great service!

Over promised, way under delivered

We waisted time and money on this so called resort property. We bought their most expensive king with two bunk bed suite plus breakfast package. We were 4 adults and one kid. First surprise came when we were told that breakfast was only for two guests. So called full breakfast at their Applebees restaurant was mediocre at best. You are better off getting food at the nearby Duncan Donuts. Most of the staff members had huge attitude problem. Coffee was continuously running out. The bunk beds were dusty and had ants crawling all over them. We stayed for 4 night and at the last day when we requested a late checkout, we were only given an hour. We stay at Holiday Inn all the time, but after this experience, we will definitely think twice.

A shameful experience

Terrible customer service. I stayed in many different locations of holiday inn i would say this one was my worst experince. I took a vacation package from american airlines. I would highly recommend ALL not to take this hotel. After checking in they said i have to take lyft or uber for parks as they have no spots available for parks shuttle. Perhaps i called few times after and before the reservation but they never told me that i have reserve parks shuttle ahead of time. Theyy said they dotn have room service due to COVID19 restrictions but if i need anything i can come to front desk and take. It doesnt make no sense to me. Due to COVID19 every hotels has more cleanliness and room services to protect and germs. I have been traveling a lot during covand that was my unique experience not to provide room services. I stayed 4 nights 5 days in a dirty unhealthy room..usiing same towels everyday. At 3rd night while taking shower i saw a big cockroache sitting on the shower curtain. I couldn't finish my shower as it was flying everywhere. I called front desk immediately. They send two guys after 37mins. Thank god the cock6was still there and they cought him. They sprayed some strong alcohol or chemical that i couldnt use the restrooms rest of the night neither could eat anything. Next morning when i complaints to the duty manager Tyler he appologies for everything that happened and promised me will return my one night payment. I have returned from orlando 3 weeks now still i havent received anu refund. I called them but they were unable to answer my quiries. Its very sad that this type of hotels are making good rates and getting membership in intercontinental level. Shame.

Cleanliness

Upon arriving in room, our young girls went straight to the bunkbeds. When getting on the beds, we noticed there was cotton candy stuck on 2 of the 3 bedspreads. At that point we called down to the front desk and spoke with Allison, who was very nice, she stated someone would be up right away with clean bedspreads. After making that call we started looking around, the room did not like it had been cleaned. Headboard had “stuff” wiped on it, bathroom had small pieces of toilet paper and dirt on the floor. We continued to wait for clean bedspreads. After 30-45 minutes we called back and spoke to Allison, who thought the bedspreads had already been brought up. After the 2nd call we finally received the bedspreads. The next morning on checking out, I asked fir a comment card, the front desk clerk told me just to write a review and it would go to the manager. I then asked for the general managers phone number. The clerk went to the back and came back with a male who asked me what was the complaint, which I explained. He said he would get with the director of housekeeping and call me. He confirmed my name and number. No surprise, as of today 11/19/21, no one has called me. Really amazed at the lack of concern especially with IHG posting the extra care of cleanliness as a precaution during COVID.

My toddler and I were traveling with my husband for work; he was called away early, but Yara and Ancel were more than accommodating making sure we were taken care of. It is always a little chaotic with a toddler and nap times, but we were very happy with our experience!

My family and I stayed at the resort this weekend and had an awful experience. First the A.C unit in our room was not working and the temperature was 76 degrees. I called the front desk at 10:00pm and she assured me she would send someone. We waited until 11:30pm and I had to call front desk a second time to let them know we were still waiting. Finally the technician comes and tells us it’s working. Thirty minutes later our room was still hot, and at 76 degrees. I went down to the front desk and they ended up moving us to a different room.
We got to our new room at 12:20 am, by this time we are all exhausted as I get ready to lay down I notice the sheets are dirty and stained. Once again I call down to the front desk and explained the issue. We waited until 1:30am for someone to bring clean sheets. I have stayed at numerous holiday inns and this was one of the worst experiences.

Hotel was as expected and we had a fine stay

I read the reviews and since I was making reservations last minute, literally as we were driving to Florida from Indiana, I didn't have a ton of choices for price. And so I really appreciated the detailed reviews so here goes mine. It was about like the reviews I read. And we were here first week of April 2021 which is height of Spring Break. I will start with the bad since we did pay quite a bit of money, but there was good, too. There is a resort fee that added about $200 for the week that I had to pay upon check in. It is stated, but make sure you take note of it. There was a strong smell of pot in a few places towards the back like people said, I am not sure how the hotel would curb that as I never saw anyone smoking it, but it was enough to give headaches to me and one of my children especially when it was in the elevator. I can't exactly blame the hotel for that, but it then again was bad enough with enough complaints that maybe they can figure out something. They also aren't also completely to blame for the dog barking across the hall for two days straight, but that was annoying. It is a pet friendly hotel, but that was really annoying. I tried not to be one of "those" people and complain but had it continued one more day I would have. The Applebees was very behind and not that good, but it was the height of Spring Break and the one employee trying to do all the walk in/call in orders was pretty overwhelmed. I felt bad for her. I am not sure if they are short staffed or not but we wasted a lot of money and time on food. We just didn't eat there after the second time which I only did after the first time, because it was late at night and not much other choice. The pool bar's hours were a little haphazard not like on the sign, but the bartender was nice and you can order food from the restaurant out there until about 8. Ok now for the good. The beds were high up but comfy. It did take me a couple of days to realize that there were "soft" and "firm" stitched onto the pillows which was helpful once I figured it out. I was with teenagers and it was fine, but it would probably really be fun for little kids. I didn't have any problems with kids being unruly etc like some mentioned but that is always hit or miss anywhere. It thought that part was fine. It is located by Disney, but it is very hard to turn into from I4 as its a left hand turn and everyone blocks the drive, you do need to turn right to get out. But it was a good location other than getting in and out of it. The pool is heated and most of the amenities were opened. The store was currently short staffed so closed from like 12-5 but it did have a lot of stuff in it and had several open hours. The movie theatre was closed due to COVID stuff, but most of the rest was open. They did have activities on the weekend, but my kids were a little old for those, but they didn't care either. While there were several people at the pool during the day, what do expect on a hot days? I was always able to find a chair. We brought our own towels so it wasn't as big of a deal when they were out of pool towels. As far as COVID stuff for those who care, most people - maybe all - wore masks in the lobby, the hallway hit or miss, and the pool most did not - obviously. Seemed about right to me. But while FL may be "open" the cities seemed to still be requiring masks so FYI you need them in Orlando. Oh and you got a choice at check in: that they not come to your room at all and you just ask for what you need, or they will check in to just replenish each day, or the full service each day. You choose what you are comfortable with. Since we booked last minute Spring Break, we just had a regular room that we paid about $1400 for for the week. The staff were all nice that we ran across. No problems there. So all in all it was nice hotel that we enjoyed, just a few issues with the restaurant and the pot smell (and dog barking).
