Anniversary stay

Booked for wedding anniversary stay, we loved both room and view. Only one thing is that the person standing outside of the entrance got confused if we were hotel user or bar customer. He was actually a staff of the bar of the hotel but how can we know if he was hotel staff or not? He was friendly, but just assumed we were there for the bar, just a bit of confusion, nothing major.

Standard have gone down since my last stay. You could use your free drink for a cocktail this has stopped. Bar staff very unfriendly treat you like a criminal not a guest.

Very poor customer service

Stayed at this hotel numerous times prior to 2020 but last time was my first return after the pandemic. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. The rooms are small, but the customer service is particularly poor especially on my last encounter. Having travelled with IHG for almost 20 years and being a Spire member, this hotel refused to refund me for one of the two nights because it was a prepaid reservation. This is even though I called the hotel when my flight to London was cancelled and was promised a refund. After multiple calls and emails (including several non-responses) to Mr. Lucero, Operations Manager, I was told that Miss Bacharova Operations Manager of Criterion Hospitality and Mr. Lucero would not refund me because it's "policy" (even though I have not asked for refunds like this for prepaid reservations during 20 years with IHG). The room itself was supposed to be an upgrade but it smelled of mold and, upon check out, the receptionist was "shocked" I was given this room. Will make sure to avoid this (and all other IHG hotels) going forward as they sadly cannot differentiate the value of (1) sticking to policy, (2) promises made to their customers when called, and (3) understanding the importance of keeping clients who have been trying to stick to IHG chains even though there is much other choice out there.

DO NOT STAY-bathroom not cleaned-urine on floor and toilet

I stayed at this hotel 31st December for 1 night. When I arrived the bathroom had not been cleaned. It was disgusting. I asked to move rooms but there were none available. The hotel assured us a cleaner would be up immediately to clean it but they never arrived. I appreciate it was NYE but it’s unacceptable to expect guests to stay in a room that hadn’t been cleaned with urine on the floor and seat among other things. The hotel manager Rax has been so unhelpful and even lied about the fact the cleaner came during our stay stating he has cctv images of her entering our room!! I have never stayed in such an awful place before where management try to cover up their mistakes rather than apologise and own up. Management have responded to another review apologising and stating they have messaged me directly about the problem however they have not!!

Poor room cleaning

The room cleaning service doesn’t replace towels. I stayed 3 nights, first night there were 2 bath towels, second night there was 1, then the third night there were no bath towels!

There were a number of other discrepancies in the room cleaning during my stay.

Dissapointing - staff didnt take note of requests

I booked for 1 Friday (26th July) night with my 21yo son. I had booked online with my IHG membership several weeks before. Had requested two beds, was given one queen. Requested early check in as we were arriving from New York on overnight flight. Had added note to original booking and had also followed up 1 week before that I was looking for a check in before 11am. stated to rep on phone that early check in was the deciding factor on where to stay. We arrived at 0830 am and stowed our bags, and were told they would call us before 11 with room, so we could shower and sleep some jet lag off. No call, no room until way after 1pm. 40mins after getting the room and stating that we were a bed short, and we had fallen asleep, they arrived to deliver extra bed, which only just fit in room. They had to move the desk ! Balcony was the savior. Roof top bar (and staff) was very accommodating, but without a room we could not charge bill to our room. Elevators:,there are only 2 and only one was working for a 9 floor hotel this was a pain to all we encountered in our stay. The rooms were stuffy (it was a heat wave so we excused that) but I thought the place could have sorted the air conditioning out. I love IHG hotels, never stayed at this one before, and will never again, this hotel is below your normal standard.
