The worst hotel I've ever been in

This is by far the worst hotel stay I've ever had. I have never in my life seen such a terrible place. You pull in the dimly lit parking lot and it looks like a low income residential site. The lobby is small and the front desk attendant had her children behind the counter with her. We got to our room and the facility was dirty. The elevator was out of service. The carpeting in the stairs and hallway was worn through and filthy with food crumbs and gum. There was a pharmaceutical dealing of some sort in the parking lot outside of our room and there are homeless people being put up here at this time. The room we stayed in stunk and had sticky cups and random silverware in the cabinets. We never intended on staying here more than 1 night or using any of the "amenities" but this was off putting. There was hair in the shower and bathroom sink. Someone else's to do list was still pinned to the wall in the kitchen from a previous stay. The bedding on both beds were stained and had hair on them. There was something splattered on the wall that I am only going to assume was cranberry juice. The carpeting was worn and grungy. The curtains DO NOT close so you have to have the harsh street lights shining into your room and the neighbors in the adjacent building can see into your window. The outside hotel door isn't locked so anyone can wander in without a key card. The TV was from the early 2000's and the remote was greasy, no doubt from someone else's stay. Overall...disgusting. I couldn't sleep knowing the filth that I was surrounded by. We checked out ASAP in the morning (0630) and the front desk attendant was sleeping in a room and there was phone you had to use to call him in room 104. I asked what he wanted to do with my room keys since the lobby was locked and he said "listen...I don't care. you can take them home, you can throw them away, you can leave them in your room" and hung up. The folks living there all had dogs and were letting them poop in the parking lot and wandered around in their pajamas smoking pot. We watched people walk up and look in the windows of our car so we moved it to the next hotel over and felt safer. DO NOT stay here. I am blown away by the people who said their stay was nice. I did not feel safe staying here

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!

I have stayed in Candlewoods before...but this was AWFUL! Room was 58 degrees and had to be serviced because of low batteries. In the middle of the night the smoke alarm went off. NO STAFF ON SITE TO HELP!! Electricity and phones went off for 3 hours...no lights or heat. NO ONE ON SITE TO HELP!! Called 911..they were useless too. Took the battery out of the smoke detector..apparently they are useless and not hardwired into anything as no fire department showed up. When the electricity went back on the alarm started again. Called the office AGAIN...staff answered and LIED that they had been there the entire time. They would come fix my smoke alarms. They never did. We went out at 2 am in the dark in an area we knew nothing about and finally found a 9 volt battery. We installed it. We got 3 hours of sleep. They obviously are NOT servicing their rooms as everything with batteries was not working. Smoke detector is not hard wired into the systemand is just useless. I am refusing to stay at anothe Candlewood EVER EVER again. I cannot believe it is a company wide policy to have no staff on duty overnight. The liability is enormous!!!
