Fraudulent Charges on my Credit Card

By

июля 09, 2020

I chose this hotel due to its location and view. We stayed only one night for the convenience of activities, and so my husband would get to wake up somewhere else other than the house for his milestone birthday. Unfortunately we spent little time in the hotel, but the stay and experience was pleasant (until we leave). We check out, and proceed with our day. The next day I see a $500 charge on my account. I figure it’s a mistake. I call and I am told that there was “property damage” to our room. That sounded crazy because we did literally nothing but watch tv, shower, and sleep in that room. I am emailed a picture (a picture that doesn’t even look like the dark mahogany table on our balcony- some table that could have been any table anywhere) of what looks like two cigarette holes burned into it. I’m expected to believe this was our doing. We do not, and have never, smoked cigarettes or smoked ANYTHING in that hotel room. We spent barely 5 min total outside enjoying the view- my husband never even sat down. I explain this to the manager on site (Luis) and my husband did as well. They insisted that I needEd to bring it up to my bank and dispute it. If I dispute these charges, all the bank will do to investigate is call the hotel- which is a horrible option due to the fact that they are basically stealing from me and claiming damage to receive $500 from us. This is fraudulent and honestly the most horrible experience I’ve ever had with any hotel. I have NEVER had to pay any fees for damage in a hotel or Airbnb in my life. This is robbery and insulting, and speaks to the poor inspection standards of this hotel. This was obviously damage done before we arrived, and was not noticed (If that is even the case). However it must have been noticed following our departure, and we got stuck with a $500 bill for damage that has nothing to do with us or any actions that took place during our stay. We were simply enjoying one evening in DC (most of which was spent on the actual wharf and at Del Frisco’s that evening, and in bed watching tv in the morning). I hope this is rectified. I should not have to reach out to my bank to dispute an absolute ridiculous charge that was forced on my husband and I. I stayed very polite and calm while speaking with the hotel staff, but make no mistake that I am enraged by this. That fee is more than my hotel fee and room service bill combined. I chose your hotel over many hotels thinking we would receive exceptional service and professionalism. This has not been the case.

Terrible Experience - Lied To Repeatedly

By

июня 17, 2019

Stayed at this hotel this weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. When I say worst customer experience ever, I could not mean it more. First of all, our room never had the housekeeping service clean our room that weekend. We called down and asked about when they would come by, we were rudely told they were on a schedule and it would happen later. We asked for more towels, but they said that we couldn't get towels now because housekeeping was on a schedule. This was at 4pm. We were horrified by the tone used by the people we spoke with, especially when we had been extremely polite.

30 minutes later, someone from the hotel was at our door with a bottle of nice rose. My wife's friends had told me they were sending her wine to our room, so I assumed it was from them. However, the person at the door said it was a gift from the hotel. It seemed strange the hotel would send us this, so we called down to the front desk again to ask if they had sent it to us or if it was from one our friends. Multiple people including the concierge assured us it was "an amenity from the hotel" and not anyone else. We assumed it was because of how rude the person was to us on the phone when we asked for towels. This all turned out to be a lie. Our friends later texted us to ask if we had received the rose they sent. We immediately went to the front desk, who looked into it more and hours later finally admitted the wine came from someone else. We went the whole day not thanking our friends who sent the wine to us, because the hotel spent the whole day lying to us and trying to take credit for the wine. Worst hotel experience of our lives. They should be ashamed of putting us in that position with our friends and lying to us repeatedly.

In addition to this horrible encounter. when we got back to our room later that night, housekeeping had still not come to clean our room.

It is such a shame the hotel staff are allowed to treat guests this way.
