Loved staying at this property for over a month! Clean and modern rooms and bathrooms, perfect for extended stays. Fast internet, and helpful staff. Would stay here again

The WORST Experience!

My family & I stayed here 11-10 thru 11/13 for the Cowboys game. We arrived at our room to a musty smell. Not even 45 minutes into our stay, I noticed bugs on the bed. I called the front and she said she was able to move me to another room. We packed up our things and headed to the front. I showed the front desk the pictures I had taken & said I believed they were bed bugs. The front wanted to argue with me that she knew what bed bugs were & that they were probably fleas. Whatever it was, we needed to be moved. We get to the 2nd room & we immediately inspected the bed to find a blood stain on the comforter. My husband then took the entire comforter downstairs & the front desk then tried to minimize our concern by saying it was only a stain on the duvet cover. She then let me know that they did not have another comforter to give me because they were on back order. I then asked for at least an extra sheet to sleep with. The front desk clerk then showed up to our room with a comforter she found from another room. The front desk clerk also let me know that she had no other room available to move me into and that the manager would not be onsite until Monday. My husband went down the next morning and they front desk let him know that they had credited my account 40,000 points for my inconvenience. The days following were horrible. The room always smelled like marijuana as it was coming through the vents and in the hallways. I called Guest Relations & they let me know that the manager would give me a call Monday. I received no call. I called the hotel the following Saturday & spoke to the assistant manager. I was requesting for my stay be refunded due to the horrific experience we had. The assistant manager let me know that they would not be comping my room because they sent pest control into the room the next day & did not find any bed bugs/fleas. I explained I had pictures & videos but it did not matter. It is now my word against pest control. She then explained to me that she gave me 2,000 points for my inconvenience after telling my husband it was 40,000. Nonetheless, the conversation was getting nowhere with the assistant manager so I requested to speak to the manager. She let me know that he would not be back until after Thanksgiving but also proceeded to tell me that she has already had a conversation with the other assistant manager and they both have come to the same conclusion about not refunding my stay. If you are planning on staying somewhere near Dallas, please stay away from this location. The smell of marijuana is so bad it makes you nauseous, they have bugs in the bed that they basically tell you that you’re lying about even though you have pictures and video and they also allow guests to sleep with blood stained comforters. Their management is rude and calls you a liar since their pest control did not see anything and have since rented the room and also let you know that they cannot control people smoking marijuana in the hotel even though the front desk clerk had a friend visiting her who came out of the lobby restroom after smoking a blunt. Please enjoy the attached photos from our stay & we hope you reconsider giving this location your business.

Where do I start? From the inadequacy of the initial welcome we received from the front desk; unable to accommodate a simple reservation, not even a manager stepping in to soften the tone of the word "no". This manager would then continue to disrespect me through out the week; attempting to make me look poor/broke for an honest issue with our bank and a new paycheck. Due to reaching out to Guest Relations to find a better solution, this MGR (Marty) decided to retaliate against us when we decided enough is enough and transferred to a sister property
Via the guidance and hand of Guest Relations only to have my card ran repeatedly days after checkout fraudelently; emailed the store to inquire about and recieved an uneducated response by the "assistant general manager-Edward" saying my information was false and thanks for the email. He never followed up when I sent invoicing from accounting to verify and debunk the fraudulent charges.
Among gossip, assumptions and biases screwing our entire family to the curb, refusing us service. Fact checking done and all fees/deposits were paid in abundance. This was a clear cut case of discrimination among many other disgusting practices by IHG, specifically Candlewood HURST. You can do better, IHG.

RECOGNITION MUST BE MADE TO MAJORITY OF STAFF WHO WERE SO KIND AND RESPECTFUL.
THE ONLY ISSUES AROSE FROM GEN MGR MARTY AT THE FRONT DESK.

Disappointed in our stay

Very disappointed with this hotel and our stay. Let me say first off that we prepaid the FULL amount upon staying here and two days before checkout, the “night auditor” charged us another 215$ on top of the FULL amount PLUS deposit we had already paid, which will take 7-10 business days to be put back into our account. The GM told us he was initiating an immediate refund but we later found out the next day that he hadn’t done that. This almost seems like theft. Watch your bank account while staying here, folks! It happened to us TWICE while staying here for a week. I’m extremely upset that every single staff member we spoke to had a different answer and it took getting IHG corporate involved to get a resolution.

We had many problems while staying here, including sheets that were worn out and had zero elasticity so they wouldn’t stay on the bed, pots and pans that still had visible food from previous guests on them, a fridge that was put in the wrong way so you could barely open it against the main door, elevators that reeked of animal feces, a sink that still had food that hadn’t been disposed of, a shower that had rust all over it and a VERY uncomfortable bed! Another tenant was SMOKING in his room which led to the entire 4th floor reeking of cigarette smoke. Also be aware that the laundry room is OUT of commission and according to previous reviews has been for a while now so the rate you’re paying doesn’t include free laundry as most Candlewood Suites do.

Definitely wary of staying here again as they seem to do what they please with your funds and the rooms need a major update. Please also be aware that there are some shady characters who live here permanently and use the back parking lot to do drugs in. It makes the area feel unsafe and made us uneasy about using the pool areas and going to our car late at night.

Front Desk Needs Help

I arrived to Candlewood Suites-DFW Hurst on Friday, February 24 at 10pm. I had just driven four hours with my son and was ready to check in and go to sleep. When I arrived, the lady at the front desk was vaping outside. When I got to the front desk, I gave her my last name and she said unless I was "my husband's name" I would not be able to check in. I explained to her that I was the one that made the reservation and included my name as an additional guest. I then tried to present the confirmation email, with my name on it as an additional guest, but she refused to even look at the email, much less consider what I was telling her. She told me I had to have my husband call in and add myself to the reservation. I told her that had already been done that and I was not sure why my name was not appearing on her screen but if she would look at the email, I had my name on it. She refused. Plus my husband was not available that night to call in. And even if I had my husband call in, how would she know that it was my husband on the other end of the phone. The whole thing was completely insane and she refused to check me in. Needless to say I lost my patience and asked why she couldn't just look at the curse word email and check me in. She then kicked me out of the hotel and told me she was going to call the police for cursing at her. Needless to say, that also was insane. She was the one causing so much trouble for a person who has been an IHG member for 25 years. I tried giving her my license, credit card, whatever she needed to check me in to the hotel. I walked outside to call Candlewood Corporate to see if they could help me and the lady on the other end of the line told me my name was on the reservation and she was not sure why the lady at the front desk could not see it. Candlewood Corporate called her and explained she needed to add me and magically I was "allowed" to check in. And to top it off, they didn't even have a room available with two queen beds, which is what I made the reservation for. Awesome. Thank you Candlewood Suites-DFW Hurst for such an amazing experience.

Staff on edge

Front desk staff Steph was a bit on edge starting she wasn’t able to check in a guest 2 min before 4 because cameras are watching … made the check in awkward . The interaction wasn’t pleasant Steph charged my incidental before I checked in found that not acceptable.

Who is missing a pair of underwear?

The room did not have any soap or shampoo in the bathroom, so we had to use dish washing detergent.b” My wife noticed a pair of mens underwear behind the door on the bathroom floor. Upon taking a shower, the glass door handle pulled off from the top. My wife pulled out the makeup chair and had to sweep crumbs or food out of the chair before deciding not to use it. Now we are wondering if we actually slept on clean sheets! I reported this to the desk clerk at checkout and was told that the hotel manager would contact me. Well, it has been 7 days since and no call and I would like my points back!

I had an extended stay at this hotel. Overall, I am pleased with the stay. Upon first checking in, the process was quick and easy. The room was clean and in good condition. The cupboard was well stocked. The amenities are modern. Linen and towels are of quality and good condition. There is a laundry on site, but most of the dryers are broken. The front desk clerks (Karan and Stephanie) and housekeeping are all very friendly. There is a small “store” on the first floor where you are able to purchase snacks and beverages as well as over the counter medications. Dogs are allowed and there were numerous large dogs in the hotel (easily over 40 lbs). I noticed, in agreement with others, that the hotel has an odor due to the amount of dogs on the property. One of the side entrances began smelling of strong urine toward the end of my stay. However, my most pressing issue was with billing. I had duplicated charges for about 2 weeks. Eventually, Karan was able to resolve the issue by noting that my credit card info was in an incorrect field. Additionally, it seemed very difficult to get housekeeping as a long term guest. Management, is not available or even “visible” for that matter. I had several concerns throughout my stay that the front desk clerks were unable to rectify. The manager, Dina, was never available and did not return any calls, nor follow-up. Avoidance exemplified. In total, I would recommend this hotel for travelers staying long term in the area. This location is convenient for travel nurses due to its proximity to the airport, tolls and access to the hospitals in north DFW. It’s in a secure, well lit area, surrounded by many restaurants and a Walmart just across the street.
