The McRae family purchased the plantation in 1955. Today, the McRae family still owns the property, and they continue to make improvements to the plantation so that our visitors can experience what plantation life was like. As you tour each site on the plantation, our knowledgeable staff will help you understand the day-to-day activities of those who lived on the plantations as well as the history of the people who live there.

USS Yorktown is one of the 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. She is named after the Battle of Yorktown of the American Revolutionary War and is the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name.
