Not to be confused with Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach is its own magical enclave, a picture-postcard resort city right on the coast. It's actually part of a community collective called the Jacksonville Beaches — Atlantic Beach, Mayport, Neptune Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach form the rest of the group. At the end of your visit, you won't want to leave, even if you only traveled to the town for business.
It just so happens that visiting each of the Jacksonville Beaches is one of the most fun things to do here. Each deserves at least a couple of hours. Don't miss the photo ops on Jacksonville Pier. Get your thrills at Adventure Landing, a water park that's ideal for the kids. The Beaches Museum and History Park reveals the story of each community that composes the Jacksonville Beaches. Cradle Creek Preserve lets you see the area's wildlife up close. Spend an evening enjoying a show at Players by the Sea.
Book a hotel in Riverside to center your vacation in a youthful, vibrant neighborhood. You're still close to downtown, plus you're close to St. Johns River. Southside is busy and bustling, but rates are cheaper than they are downtown. Enjoy an artsy, jazzy vibe with trendy restaurants and historic sites when you stay in San Marco. To get ocean views, you have to stay somewhere in The Beaches.
Twenty-four cities have direct flights to Jacksonville International Airport, so flying in is a breeze. It's just a short shuttle or cab ride to Jacksonville Beach. The same is true if you take the bus or train.
