Lake Geneva is a small resort city in Walworth County, Wisconsin. It sits in the southern part of the state and draws vacationers from surrounding areas such as Milwaukee and Chicago. The city is on Geneva Lake and was named after the town of Geneva in New York. What is now known as the Grand Geneva Resort was once the first Playboy resort, built by the late Hugh Hefner. Its population is nearly 8,000 residents, although the city draws a number of visitors during peak travel season.
One of the area's top attractions is Big Foot Beach State Park, which sits on the lake and offers swimming and kayaking for visitors, along with hiking trails to explore. During the winter, hit the slopes at Wilmot Mountain, an old-school ski resort with a casual lodge serving drinks and snacks. Visitors to Lake Geneva can enjoy adventure parks, zip lining, biking trails, golf courses, horseback riding, snowmobiling, boat cruises, fishing, parasailing and more.
IHG offers several hotel properties in the Lake Geneva area. Enjoy an at-home atmosphere at one of the all-suite locations, which boast in-room kitchens, comfortable living spaces and plush bedding. Some of the local hotels also offer amenities such as free breakfast each morning, indoor swimming pools for year-round fun and balconies to enjoy the stunning views of the nearby lake.
The closest airport to Lake Geneva is the General Mitchell International Airport, located about 50 miles away. Transportation options within the town are somewhat limited, although hotels might offer free local shuttles.
