Panama City is a picturesque city on Florida's Emerald Coast. Like other cities along this coastline, it's best known for its vibrant green waters. Its warm subtropical climate provides the perfect temperatures to enjoy the ocean and Panama City's other attractions.
Panama City doesn't have the large, sandy beaches of many Florida cities, but you can take a dip at Carillon Beach. Having fun on the water is still a priority though, with fishing charters and whale and dolphin watching tours all operating in the area. You'll have more opportunities to come face-to-face with wildlife at the Bear Creek Feline Center. Explore Panama City's cultural side at the Panama City Center for the Arts, Paul Brent Gallery and the Marina Civic Center.
Panama City is known as a resort city, so it's a great destination if you love full-service accommodation where everything is taken care of for you. You'll find the best Panama City resorts close to the water, so their rooms and suites can offer ocean views. There aren't a lot of basic hotels in Panama City, but you will find a few familiar budget accommodation chains represented here.
Northwest Florida International Airport, just off Florida State Road 388, is roughly 21.5 miles northwest of Panama City. Major hire car companies are located within the airport to help people reach their Panama City destinations. Panama City is serviced by several major roads including U.S. Highway 231, State Route 77, State Route 79 and U.S. Highway 98. If you'd prefer public transport, take a Greyhound bus to the local terminal on Harrison Street/ U.S. 231.
