It might be known as the Capital of Silicon Valley, but there's much more to San Jose than start-ups and tech giants. Visit this Bay Area city and you'll soon discover it suits leisure vacations as much as business getaways.
San Jose is a delight for museum lovers, with the Tech Museum of Innovation, the San Jose Museum of Art and San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles all providing diverse opportunities to learn while having fun. Santana Row and Willow Glen are charming retail districts shopaholics will love. Cheer on the San Jose Sharks as the SAP Center hosts the San Jose Sharks or the San Jose Giants at the San Jose Municipal Stadium. The San Jose Repertory Theater, Opera San Jose and Teatro Visión cater to visiting theater fans.
San Jose boasts modern hotels at a variety of price points. While you'll find many of the hotel chains you're familiar with, the city also has several boutique options close to the attractions. For a more memorable vacation, consider staying in a heritage mansion or restored historic hotel. You'll usually pay more for accommodation downtown. If you don't mind negotiating traffic or public transport you'll usually save money at hotels a little further from the city center.
San Jose is serviced by the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport, 2 miles northwest of downtown. Catch the VTA bus to your San Jose hotel. Amtrak, Caltrain and Altamont Commuter Express trains all stop at San Jose's Diridon Station. The Hwy 17 Express, Megabus, CA Shuttle Bus and VTA buses also stop at this central train station.
