Tulsa is the second-largest city in Oklahoma and serves as the county seat of Tulsa County. It has more than 400,000 residents, marking a slight increase over the past decade. Tulsa is the main municipality of the Tulsa Metropolitan Area, which is home to more than a million residents within the statistical area. The Loachapoka Band of Creek Native Americans originally settled the land in the 1830s. Tulsa was once a hub for the nation's oil industry, but it did go through an economic downturn that impacted the community. It houses the University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University.
When visiting the city with kids, check out the Tulsa Zoo, where you can view animals in nature-inspired habitats and take a ride on the Safari Train. Tulsa also has several top museums, including the Gilcrease Museum, displaying Native American and Western art, as well as the Philbrook Museum of Art, which showcases art pieces within an ornate mansion and beautiful gardens.
During a trip to Tulsa, it's easy to find IHG hotel properties in the city's main areas. Stay right in the center of the city at one of the hotels within walking distance of shopping and dining, or choose a hotel near a residential neighborhood for a quiet, serene experience. The IHG hotels offer appealing amenities such as swimming pools, free breakfast and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Fly into Tulsa International Airport and rent a car for transport during your stay, or take a taxi to your hotel. Public transportation is also available via Tulsa Transit's bus lines.
