Mt. Asama, nurtured by repeated volcanic activities, has become a symbol of Karuizawa with its magnificent seasonal views.It has been featured in paintings and literary works by numerous celebrities. There are several viewpoints in the town, such as Mt.Koasama and Usuitouge-miharashidai.

A cobblestone shopping street. The shopping street is lined with stores of various genres, from historic traditional craft stores to the latest restaurants, culture stores, and sweets stores. Historic buildings such as Union Church and St. Paul's Church can be reached on foot, as well as the scenic spot of Unba Pond. The area is crowded with many tourists from spring to fall.
