I understand things getting lost in translation, but when I’m told the night before I get a late check out, and then the next morning to confirm I am told there was no record of it and I need to leave at an earlier time: this messes with my schedule. Had it been said one consistent time from the start would have been much more feasible than changing my plans. My bottle of lotion was filled with water? I have tattoos, not thrilled with not having lotion. Housekeeping staff is great, the rooms and public spaces are very clean and well kept, however I am very disappointed with the FD staff

I love being a member for the fine establishment I would highly recommend it simply because it has been nothing but good things from the time I’ve been going.

My Mom was showering in the tub shower which had NO Non-slip mat inside and only a flimsy shower curtain around it. My mom is 82 years old, but able to go golfing several times a week, so she has good balance. She was just tuning to get some shampoo, slipped and fell backwards out the shower hitting her back first and then her head. She had a huge bump and had a headache and backache that lasted weeks. We had to watch her for signs of concussion. We talked to the front desk person, and she brought up one of those thick towels hotels give you to put on the floor OUTSIDE your shower. We said that won't do any good - something needs to be put down INSIDE the shower/bathtub so people don't slip.The front desk person verified they use water softener in their water which adds to the slickness issue. I reported the incident to the front desk when we left and asked to speak to the manager. She told me the manager would call me on Monday. He did not I went back in person the next Tuesday and talked to the manager who assured me they would contact their insurance company and be in touch. It took five phone calls from me, and after 2 months, I finally heard from the insurance person. I told what had happened. He then spoke with my mom about it. Two weeks later, my mom told me the insurance person called and told her he had talked to the manager and the manager said they did everything they could. He said they put hand rails in the handicapped showers. He said they gave her a mat to put in the tub shower. He said nothing was going to be done about our report and concern about other people slipping and falling in their unsafe tub showers. First of all, my mom is not handicapped. If she were handicapped, we would have asked for a handicapped room. We expect to be in a room that is safe. These tub showers are not safe. Second, the manager lied about the mat. He did not bring a mat BEFORE she slipped, he brought a THICK TOWEL AFTER she slipped. The insurance agent was taking advantage of an elderly person and hoping she would just forget about it. I have left 2 voice messages for the insurance agent, and guess what, he is not getting back to me. I HIGHLY do NOT recommend this hotel. They are more concerned about their institution making money than they are about the safety of their guests and being accountable to their mistakes. It should be called the "STAY AWAY SUITES " instead of the STAYBRIDGE SUITES!!!

I stayed at the Staybridge with a large group in October. I had to change rooms because of the dust in my room. It was not cleaned properly. Also, the last 3-4 days of my stay, the TV and air condition was not working. Someone came to fix, but the problem was never corrected. The last 3 days there was very uncomfortable.
The staff was very professional and always solved the problems. It would be nice to not have to solve problems when staying at a hotel.
Don’t book if you want to use sofa

We had to change rooms 3 times at the time of late arrival because mattresses on sofa beds were discussing. We have pictures of dirty stained and molded mattresses
IHG advertised on hotel tv how proud they are about cleanliness and it’s a complete fail. We travel a lot last 10 years and overall had no bad experiences with IHG but this is worth to write a warning g for fellow members

Stayed for a week and it was wonderful. Decent breakfast, friendly staff and a nice room. I particularly liked the free laundry room .
The location is great for walking around. Nearby are many dining options, the Capital grounds and on Saturday the Farmers Market.
Will be my new choice in Des Moines

We booked two suites. When we walked in the front door on a Friday night a guy named Jeff at the front desk WAS SO WARM AND FRIENDLY AND MADE US FEEL SO WELCOME AND WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! We had an incident happen and I wish he was there in the morning to go over it with him.

Room was dirty, found wrappers and a child’s toy in the couch crack from some previous guest. Walls in bathroom had 3 long black hairs stuck to the wall in various places. My son pulled out the sofa bed the first night to find it was already made with dirty bedding. The pack of bedding for sofa bed in the closet was also packed with dirty bedding. We contacted the front desk and was told someone would drop off clean bedding the next day while we were out. Nothing was dropped off. I went down to front desk asking for bedding and the lady seemed rude and defensive. I was calm and didn’t complain at all just asked for new bedding. I received one top sheet and a comforter, no pillow cases and fitted sheet. So again I was forced to go find a housekeeper on the floor to ask for the rest of bedding. Nobody ever acted like they cared or bothered to apologize for the inconvenience and incomplete cleaning of the room.
Very disappointing.

First, we've stayed here before---and had a stellar experience, which is why we returned. This time was even better---everything is top notch--the staff, rooms, food, etc. For me, it's a big deal when the free breakfast is not only EXCELLENT, but the food helpers pay very close attention--making sure everything is continually replenished and they are constantly assisting, etc. They also have an awesome "Den" where you can hang out, play board games, and watch TV.
We used this room to meet with our family, playing board games and watching football---such a nice area. Also this time, our youngest daughter vomited all over our bed on the morning we were leaving---the hotel could not have been kinder to us---asking us how they could help, insisting that we did not need to clean anything, bringing us more towels, telling us to just put our dirty items outside our door in a trash bag, etc... As we were leaving, we also told them that we needed to take one of their trash cans b/c we were going on a long car drive home, and we insisted on paying them for the trash can of course---they would not hear of it. They simply said, just take it. Just above and beyond, and especially considering we really ended up needing the trash can for the car ride--we were SO appreciative. This is the only hotel we will stay at in Des Moines. Thank you so much StayBridge Downtown Des Moines. You are wonderful people!
