As a General Manager of an IHG property, I had high expectations when I booked the Intercontinental San Francisco for my 40th birthday celebration, and I’m thrilled to say that every expectation was exceeded. San Francisco has been on my bucket list since I was a child, and this trip was a dream come true. The Intercontinental played a huge role in making it an unforgettable experience.

From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The doorman greeted us warmly, and the check-in process was seamless. The housekeeping staff kept our room immaculate, and the attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Every request we had was met with a smile, and the room service was prompt and delicious—just what we needed after a long day of sightseeing.

The concierge was incredibly helpful in planning our itinerary, offering great suggestions for must-see sights and the best spots for club hopping. Thanks to their recommendations, we had a weekend full of memorable experiences, exploring everything this amazing city has to offer.

The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with elegant decor and a welcoming atmosphere. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with stunning views of the city. It was the perfect retreat after a day of adventures in San Francisco.

I can’t express enough how much I enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental San Francisco. It was a very special weekend, and the exceptional service from every department—housekeeping, concierge, doorman, and room service—made it even more memorable. I can’t wait to come back and experience it all over again. Thank you for making my 40th birthday so special!

I enjoy staying here but I have to say the front desk like manager seems to dislike me and for reason it feels like he makes it his mission to make me feel like a criminal bringing security with him to my room not once has he ever thanked me for staying there nor had anything nice to stay to me which I just don’t understand why since I have nothing against him besides the time I was lied to about 2brand new prescription in sealed bottle with my name and everything on them about them not being in the room which I had been told previously that they were there but I’m sure they were taken and sold or what ever but besides that nothing against him.

The hotel, located on 5th and Howard, is a quality modern property. The Lobby Bar is well manned all during the week. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

My only complaint is the gym. It’s relatively well stocked with several treads and other cardio. They do however need to restock their weight set - as there are several dumbbells that are missing. Further some of the attachments to their rack set are missing. I suspect they could find most of these items at a local “play it again” sports. But given the quality of the facility overall, replacement of the dumbbells, and several of the other peripheral items is warranted. These are first world problems I know.

Ruined Vacation

Our entire weekend was ruined by one staff member, Ronald Diaz. He harassed us from the time we checked in until he had me in a screaming match with him before we left. I have never been treated so horribly by Hotel Management in my life. I fully support someone looking into this man’s actions as there is something very shady about his conduct. I will NEVER come to this hotel again!

Other than trash in room, nice stay

Someone else’s trash was in my room when I checked in but the view was great and enjoyed the stay. Didn’t love the walkable area around the hotel and wish there was more than one single towel hook that the hotel used for the hair dryer. Using the floor mat towels for the hand towel locations was also curious. No sound proofing so you can hear every door close and staff in hallways. Otherwise nice hotel

The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because it seemed like out AC was broken. The room was very very hot in the morning. Other than that it was a wonderful stay and I appreciated the details that the staff put together for my birthday.

San Fran - your getting worse

Unfortunately reports of San Francisco going down the gurgler are unfortunately to be believed. My stay at this property in San Francisco was very average and not at all worthy of a five star hotel, such as the intercontinental Group. Let’s start with not being understood or acknowledges a platinum ambassador. The rights and privileges would go with that stays being completely overlooked, and to make matters worse the opportunity to improve Service was not taken up by an entirely disinterested Team.

It is 2024, in a first world country at a five star property and being told I’d need yo pay a delivery fee for a spoon to stir my coffee as my room had no such implement to work with, I think says it all. Add the lack of Platinum Ambassador privileges offered and you have a story of a good hotel failing from leadership and plain old staff training. After many visits to IC SF on Howard Street I’m afraid this will be the last.

A disappointed guest, sorry yo report from my 2 night stay this week in February.

Terrible Service and Lack of Technology

Why would they not send me a bill or print one out for me if they knew their systems were unable to send emails… then the customer service person (Ron) was very unfriendly. This hotel is not worth the amount paid. Standard Hyatts provide better quality than this place.
