More than 419,000 residents call Oakland home, and thousands more visit for business and leisure travel every year. The Port of Oakland is the busiest port in Northern California. Oakland is home to the first official wildlife refuge in the United States at Lake Merritt. The climate is pleasant with an average of 260 days of sunshine annually.
Sports fans will love visiting Oakland, which has both an NFL and an NBA team that play in the city. Outdoor enthusiasts also enjoy the area, which has nearby mountain biking and hiking trails, beaches and places to fish. Make sure to visit Tilden Regional Park, which sits on 2,000 acres and includes a variety of recreational activities and beautiful natural surroundings.
Visitors to Oakland can choose from several IHG hotel properties in the city, as well as a handful of options in nearby Berkeley and San Francisco. Some hotels have swimming pools, fitness centers and in-room kitchens for convenience, while others provide free Wi-Fi and daily breakfast.
