Boca Raton is found at the southernmost edge of Palm Beach County, located right on the Atlantic Ocean. In 1925, architect Addison Mizner decided to design a resort town to rival nearby Palm Beach. Almost overnight, a resort town sprang up featuring Spanish Colonial architectural style throughout. The style is so influential that there are strong preservation efforts to retain the character of the town. It's a wonderful place to visit for architectural enthusiasts and beachgoers alike.
Feel like exploring the beaches? Boca Raton has 2 miles of beaches that include Red Reef Park and South Inlet Park. Check out the Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex for education about the local flora and fauna. Don't miss out on the boardwalk trail that's lined with hammocks for a place to rest and an observation tower to look out over the water. Families will want to go to Sugar Sand Park to see the Children's Science Explorium.
Book a hotel in downtown Boca Raton to stay close to Mizner Park, a lifestyle center. Interesting boutiques and stores are located within the city center. Downtown is also close to the Old Floresta Historic District, which contains beautifully preserved homes that date back to the 1920s.
Getting to Boca Raton is easy as it's served by Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Palm Beach International Airport and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport. Get onto Interstate 95 from any of the airports and get off at any one of the four exits to get into town.
